	Which month is best for the 2003 International Apolyton Meet in San Diego? Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

This pole/thread is a continuation of the thread here where it was decided that some time this summer the 2003 International Apolyton Meet would be held in the cities of San Diego (in California) and its neighboring city of Tijuana (in Mexico). Thus making it a truly international Apolyton meet where people will find white sand beaches, great restaurants, an active night life, and tons of other attractions all wrapped in some of the most beautiful scenery California has to offer. (Am I sell you on it yet?)

Please feel free to tell us if you will be able to make it or not and which time of summer would best fit in with your busy lives. So come on folks let's get together and make this the best 'poly meet ever.

The when part is what we're trying to determine but San Diego with a short trip south of the border to visit MtG in TJ was the over-welling will of the 'poly masses.

So far we've had people suggest Balboa Park, the Gas Lamp, or TJ's night club district (that one was suggested by someone under 21), we should also consider something like a harbor cruise ($40 with dinner) or Pacific Beach. Does anyone else have any ideas? I guess we can nail down the exact location once we figure out the date.

I don't want to go to TJ. First day of Indoc here at Navstation San Diego, some sailor with two blackeyes, who was born and raised in Tijuana, told us he had the sh-t beat out of him by the cops.

Hmm...sometime after July 21st or so, then I'll be able to drink.

He probably ran his mouth, or was around la Zona Norte, where things get a little rougher. In general that's fairly rare. Most of the squiddies I see head north in the morning SP van look to be in fairly good shape.

Phils BBQ www.philsbbq.com is the best in town, and kicks ass.

Depending on what exactly people are looking for, I can come up with some ideas, although I don't know or care **** about the club scene on either side of the border - I'm 43, married and have a two year old, that should tell you night life is seeing if Ian's kicked the blankets off or needs his night-time bottle.

I can tell you by reputation some places not to go south of the border, but what's worth bothering with depends a lot on what you're looking for.

I'd at least toy with the idea, but like Floyd I'd need a place to stay, not to mention a ride from the airport and all.

I may be able to get my Aunt to let a few of us stay over at her place for the weekend. Normally, I'd stay with my parents but my mother is sick with cancer so they wouldn't want company right now. Still, my aunt might let me and a couple of other people stay at here place.

For transportation I can always borrow a parents/siblings/aunt or uncles car since mine will be in Sacramento. Will anyone be driving to SD? I thought I heard MRT144 say something about driving.

Actually oerdin, i wont be able to drive as i will be up in seattle after june 2. I will fly down to San Diego if i can make it.

But if people like japher and sten want to drive down together it might make economic sense. and it will be a great 5 hour journey.

I voted August, but I stated I have no life, so it doesn't matter much.

August seems like a good amount of time to plan out.

I never make rerservations, I just stay in cheap motels . Sometimes I stay in nicer places like up at lake Tahoe. I'm not sure of the hotel situation in San Diego though.

I am driving to San Diego- see my post below. Depending on what we are doing I don't want to drive all the time. being designated driver sucks .

hey I'll take the berthing space on the ship. It'd be like old times. I like the top rack. The only bad thing is sometimes people will yank open the curtains when you are jerking off . OK that only happened once

I can drive people to the airport. I have a pickup which can seat 3 up front. You can put people in the back- but that isn't really safe or legal - I do have a camper shell though.

I'll need to figure out what we are going to do and such, so I know what to do with my truck. I'd like to drink, and I wouldn't want to drink and drive. So that is something I'll have to figure out. I may leave my pickup at the hotel or something. And I certainly wouldn't take it to TJ, insurance doesn't cover my vehicle in Mexico.

My brother goes to Mexico all the time. Mexicali though. He parks his car on the U.S. side of the border usually I think. His wife's family is from that town. there is temporary insurance you can buy to cover your vehicle in mexico, but that is a hassle.

Seriously, I would like to know the ball-park cost figure. I am supposedly going to Oz to visit my sister later in the year, so a couple of days stop off in California may not be out of the question.
