	Pictures of my neighbourhood (again) Remove this text

Some people stay insisting I live in the suburbs for some odd reason so... (as an aside, i had posted this pics on newsmax and amazingly i found someone who lived right here... he had long since moved but he still recognized the neighbourhood from the pics. identified the streets and told me about the 7-11 on Oxford Ave... aint that something?)

So Speer, how did you get these lovely pictures onto the internet? Did you use a digital camera? Or did you use a scanner? Either would be quite the luxury for an impovershed family. Or did you go looking up on the internet for some sample pictures of what poor neighberhoods look like?

I am very positive Speer is black, and no Shi, it does not take huge amounts of money to get a scanner..100 bucks will do, which is not some sort of fortune.

The quality of cars is surprising though. I don't think you'd see such cars in an impoverished French suburbs, except some belonging to dealers.

I always pictured him as being white kid w/ backwards phillies hat before someone told me otherwise.

But his avatar of malcom X never fitted with this image. (so 1/2 the time i was talking to him hes white, then black. )

Is there a big wealth gap between Blacks and Whites in America?? Do Blacks tend to live in these kind of neighbourhoods then?

The short answer is yes. Though the gap has narrowed considerably since the 1960's & 70's.

The average black family actually has a per capita income that's just 10%-15% less then whites. That's still alot but not nearly what it used to be. The biggest difference seems to be in educational achievement.

as for my race... I'm lebanese (though my family comes originall from southern egypt and the sudan). Probably out of ignorance, few people have thought of me as arabic prior to 9/11. people have assumed i'm puerto rican, mixed, and light skin black... the fact that i got a muslim name (and to most people, only blacks are muslims) further confused matters. in a way, i have had the rare experience of experiencing life as a member of the white, hispanic, mixed, and black races. the fact that my girlfriend is black has also caused people to further think i'm mixed or black though i can't see how i would look like that.

and Spiffor... that's consumerism for you... people live in small ass rowhomes in bad conditions but just got to buy 03 model cars and MJ's and jerseys and what not
