Hmmm... listen to my grandfather, 87 years young and still in full command of his faculties, having successfully raised 7 children (including Mom, of course ), ran his own farm for, man, must've been at least 40 years, respected in the community, never been in any trouble with the law at any point in his life...
...or an internet kook who thinks of Doctor Strangelove as a medical expert.
Wow, Striker, you're right, what was I thinking .

Cocaine was legal as well. What is your point? Should cocaine be legal? Yes__ No__

Boris - quote: What the hell? You disagree with his point of view, so you accuse him of lying about his profession? |
I doubt he is a doctor because of his "reefer madness" style arguments, not because he disagrees with me. As far as I know, Strangelove has never claimed to be doctor, he has only mentioned what he has seen in a hospital. For all I know, he pushes a broom around the ER. And I didn't accuse Strangelove of lying, I asked if Ted really believed he was a doctor since it was Ted who claimed he had medical expertise. Pay attention.
quote: And you then accuse others of casting about insults? |
When people insult me, I'll insult them back. When people lie or tell falsehoods about others to justify hurting them, as Strangelove does with drug users, I won't pat them on the back.
Clueless Boris.

So his observations condradict your notions of how drug users should behave, so he's not a doctor? That's a pretty obnoxious sentiment. And he has certainly professed to be a doctor, as I can distinctly recall. Ergo your implication that he isn't is tantamount to implying he is a liar. If he's not a doctor, I'll stand corrected, but I should hope he would come clean about it now, since he's seen fit to dispense medical advice as one.

Riiiight. Doc S relates observations that you haven't seen, so he must be lying intentionally to hurt drug users. Now what if he's telling the truth, and you just don't want to believe it because it doesn't jive with you? Is that so beyond the realm of possibility?
I've seen people behave pretty ridiculously on drugs myself. I am mostly pro-legalization, but I'm not going to bury my head in the sand to the bad effects drugs have on people.
Pathetic Bezerker.

Boris - quote: So his observations condradict your notions of how drug users should behave, so he's not a doctor? |
He doesn't know how drug users behave, he allegedly knows how SOME drugs users behave and extrapolates from that to "justify" hurting all drug users.
quote: That's a pretty obnoxious sentiment. |
You aren't getting it yet, I don't like Strangelove and it has nothing to do with his position. It has to do with his rationale, his desire to hurt millions of people based on lies, distortions, or falsehoods which he promotes as someone with medical knowledge. But you think I'm being obnoxious and not him? Maybe if you were the one being thrown in a cage for what someone else did, you'd have a new perspective on whom is being obnoxious.
quote: And he has certainly professed to be a doctor, as I can distinctly recall. |
Did I say you didn't distinctly recall him claiming to be a doctor?
quote: Ergo your implication that he isn't is tantamount to implying he is a liar. |
My implication doesn't depend on what you claim to know about Strangelove. My question was for someone claiming he was doctor.
quote: If he's not a doctor, I'll stand corrected, but I should hope he would come clean about it now, since he's seen fit to dispense medical advice as one. |
You stand corrected now, I've never seen him claim to be a doctor and that's what matters. It doesn't matter if you saw him claim to be a doctor. I was under the impression he was a counsellor of some kind who dealt with addicts, not a doctor.
quote: Riiiight. Doc S relates observations that you haven't seen, so he must be lying intentionally to hurt drug users. |
Well, that answers my first question, you are. I said "lies or falsehoods". Now, if I said all black people were criminals, wouldn't you call that a lie since it's impossible for me to know all black people? But I still gave him the benefit of some doubt by allowing for the possibility he's just ignorant and lacks the ability to think critically.
quote: Now what if he's telling the truth, and you just don't want to believe it because it doesn't jive with you? Is that so beyond the realm of possibility? |
It's certainly a stretch, but since I asked Ted what he believed, why is this relevant?
quote: I've seen people behave pretty ridiculously on drugs myself. I am mostly pro-legalization, but I'm not going to bury my head in the sand to the bad effects drugs have on people. |
Can you actually quote someone here claiming all drug use never results in any harm to anyone? If not, who are you accusing of burying their head in the sand? Hmm...insulting people who aren't here in the thread now?
Yes, we know your feelings, and I know reading comprehension is not one of your strengths.
quote: I'm well aware of Lincoln's penchant for insults |
But he still gets a pass from you.
quote: but he's at least an ACTIVE PARTICIPANT in this thread and isn't attacking posters who aren't here. |
WTF do you think he said? Do you even read his posts? He accused people of idiocy for supporting Canada's "reform". You don't think that includes people who aren't here? Oh, btw, Strangelove has "participated" in a number of drug threads, but my question was for someone citing him as an authority we should respect. One more point, your little loophole is BS, in the thread about which poster you'd regret debating, people were attacking me long before I entered the thread but you didn't jump in there to chastise people attacking a non-participant, I believe you jumped in to attack me too, correct? Hmm...
Keep digging, you might hit China soon.
