quote: Eh? The way I always heard it was the US was the cultural melting pot in general, while Canada was a "mosaic".
From my own experiences, this is true. Tons of my friends are very traditionalists when it comes to their cultures (Sikh, Muslim, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc), while in the US everyone strived to fit in and be the typical American. |
That's the way it is supposed to be "officially"... and, yes, actually, in my experience, that's the way it usually is.
Multiculturalism is a national value, ain't it?

God made the world. As he did so, he spread the natural wealth around from place to place. As Gabriel watched, he enjoyed the fairness of His work. Then, God got to Canada. There he put great forests, large gold deposits, endless mineral wealth and oil, so much oil. Gabriel watched as God lavished Canada with seemingly endless blessings! Finally he could wonder no more, and said, "oh great God, what a wealthy land of Canada you have created in Your wisdom. It has all things, great forests, large gold deposits, endless mineral wealth and oil, so much oil." God figured he was about to get to the point so he looked upon Gabriel. Gabriel gathered himself in the power of God's gaze, and continued, "May I ask O wonderous great God almighty, why you have spread the natural wealth around from place to place, but Canada you have lavished with seemingly endless blessings? God smiled, and answered, "all will be fair, when I add the Canadians."

He went on, "then, I'll add the Americans."
