If she wants to become a regular on the tour, she will have to qualify like anybody else.

However, I don't see how ANYBODY can be angry about her getting a sponsors exemption... Heck, even Tiger has been allowed to play in some tournaments that he shouldn't have because of sponsors exemptions when he was an amatuer

Ah, I think Vijay is correct. There is the LPGA. I think it was hilarious when the male golfer said since Annika is playing in a PGA tourney, he should be able to play in the LPGA!

I agree, the sponsers pay the piper, they call the tune, but thats not what you said in your earlier post. The fact she may not (and probally will not) finish last does not mean shes there on merit

I dont understand whats the big deal if a man loses to a woman in golf. There is no physical ability required, so it only comes down to skill.

Spoken like a person that has never played 36 holes in a row. While strength may not be that important for the casual golfer, it is for the pros. A lot of them do weight training now and are actually quite athletic. In fact she said that she just started thinking about it because of her weight training.

you don't play golf do you? i'm not being predudiced but women could not handle the big par 5's on the tour and stay competitive, they'd pretty much drop a stroke every hole

But I stand by both points... If she beats people, it proves she deserves a chance to play on the tour with the other GOOD players... She will still have to go through qualifying just like anybody else.

However, think what happens if she wins (I know, slim shot) She would then qualify for the Masters and many other tournaments where winners get automatic exemptions. She would be able to play some good events, and never have to go to Q School.

No I dont, thank god. Par 5 is about 500 yards. 500- 550. Someone here said Annika can hit it about 260 yards. SO in two strokes, shes on the green, where strength is no longer factor.

And rah I thought that it was 18 holes a day. a

Look at the younger players, most of them are athletes.
Look at Tiger's swing. A unathletic person could not even come close. Strength is a great advantage in golf along with stamina.

And I wouldn't be surprised if your neighbor could kick your butt.

If a women is a great putter, she won't. The problem with Annika is that she can pound the ball, but isn't really one of the best putters on the LPGA. It will probably take another long ball hitter who can putt better for woman to be successful on the PGA tour. There are some young women playing now that just might be able to do just that.

And did anybody else see the ESPN clip they did on Annika's weight training routine that she does every day... She is probably in better shape than many other athletes...

I'd stack Tiger's athleticism against most baseball, football, basketball, soccer and hockey players. I never said he was a gymnist. But if you don't think the others are athletes, then I'll agree with you.

Pro golfers are asked to play 36 holes a day on many occasions.

Ok, Ok, some of them are athletes, but you don't have to be one to be a good golfer.

After thinking about it, it's still a sport, just like shooting the bow is.

I just don't see anything interesting bout it, I guess.

Thet did one on some of the men players too. It just shows that people like Azazel have no fricking clue what they're talking about. Yes I could post pictures of family reunion basketball games with fat uncle Jack, but that wouldn't mean that basketball players aren't athletes.

Golf is a game, not a sport. Golfers aren't athletes. But one can be a golfer and an athlete. The two are very different.

36 holes... aw... it must be tough when you have caddies carrying your equipment and golf carts to drive you around...

rah... I could kick Tiger's ass in the following events: any sort of race, any sort of weight lifting challenege, hockey, baseball, football, la-cross, rugby, and maybe even soccer. I wouldn't say basketball because he's black and I'm a terrible shot.

That's my point though. The younger breed of golfers are now both and it shows in their performance.

And I think Tiger would kick your ass in most of those events that you listed. Fortunate for you, it can't be proved how much hot air you just expended.

Actually, I can fault the logic here. While the LPGA is the "Ladies" Professional Golf Association, the PGA is NOT the "Mens" Professional Golf Association. It is simply for GOLF professionals, and nowhere is there a clauss in their charter that says male only... Granted, it also didn't say WHITE only, and they enforced that for a long time... but that changed... so can this. If a women can make it through Q School, there is no rule on the PGA's books that wouldn't allow her to play.

oh please... he might have a chance at an endurance race... that's about it. I tried out and made the Chicago Freeze's hockey team. I didn't end up playing because it would have required too much traveling and it wasn't where I wanted my life go. I could have played Junior B hockey, and if I were determined enough, at least made it to the AHL.
