I've just looked at the MLS site, it seems Chicago havent been having good times. Do many people Watch them in Chicago? Are the crowd not getting behind them enough?
How much does it cost to see them play, I might have to go one day

It is early in the season, so it will take a few more weeks to get it sorted.

They play in a small temporary stadium while their's is being rebuilt. Crowds are usually around 12k-15k, small, but that will change. Football will be the number 1 sport in the US within 10 years, better get the Americans ready for it.

(Tough year for the Rams... sorry about that)

Why did he say Bulls? I would've realized he was talking about Soccer if he said the Bears...

anyway the NY Giants is where it's at... ironic because the eagles and the giants got a ridiculously rivalry thats been going on as long as i can remember... so i usually am not too vocal about being a giants fan

Yeah, got confused there.

As for the Rams, well I dont support them as I'm a Rotherham fan (Come from Yorkshire), but i was sad to see them do badly.

As for Football becoming the #1 sport, Well I think it will take more time, but I'm hoping the last World Cup helped to catch Yank Interest, There are Huge Rivalries in English Football too Speer, but that doesnt stop me Walking thru Sheffield wearing my Millers shirt the day after we beat them - so what if i get beat up, I'm proud to be a Miller!

I know older Americans think I am crazy when I say that 'soccer' will be the no. 1 spectator sport in the US in ten years, but it will be. I don't know when, but it will catch on like rock-n-roll at some point soon, and it will be huge within three years of it going parabolic. I would estimate that it catches 'fire' in two years.

The only problem with this theory:

It's been the same theory for 25 years.

Americans don't like being bored, they want action.

That is why baseball is slipping.

That's why hockey is slipping.

That's why soccer will never "catch fire".

Soccer can catch fire, but not in 10 years. That's a bit silly, Sten. It'll be at least 20-25 years before it approaches hockey in the states, IMO. It has to build momentum and 10 years is just too soon. However, if the US wins a World Cup in that time, all bets are off.

The only problem with your theory is that there is more action in soccer than American Football.

For the action to be the same you would need a no substitution policy, a no-huddle rule, and unlimited offensive motion prior to snap.

The fact that you don't understand the sport just makes you an old Lawrence Welk guy, who thinks Elvis & the Beatles suck.

I fully admit that soccer is barely on the professional map in the States. Globalization baby. If you don't like it, better move to Idaho.

Of course it is! But that is the beauty of it!! However you do have 35 million little kids playing the game at different levels in the US, that is way more than other sports. The result is unavoidable, the only question is when. It is better excercise, cheaper to host, and when it becomes popular as a spectator sport, it will quickly dwarf everything else in the states. If you own a PSL or a Pro sports team, I would hedge your bets.

You had the same thing back in the 70s, yet soccer didn't really take off and hasn't. They get older and take up football or basketball or drop sports entirely. They get older and lose interest. I've seen it happen. I played soccer for 10 years as a kid, and I love the game, but the people I played it with don't care a smidge about MLS. They were happy about the WC, but MLS was nothing to them.

By action, Americans want scoring, not passing.

I played soccer when I was little. It's fun to play but just not interesting enough to watch.

Althoug, the games do go relatively quickly.
