I never "hurrayed" the war, although I did hurray the efforts of the US military to try to do their best to minimize civilian casualties in the war.

There is evident truth BTW that most of them are incapable of distancing themselves suficiently to come to a calm rational conclusion in what regards the palestinian issue. Of course they are well amongst like minded people in their country (to clarify: the US)

Ah yes, here is probably the place where to explain Fashoda (I tried to post it twice )

Fashoda was a diplomatic incident during the European colonization of Africa. The British colonial army heading south, and the French colonial army heading East met at Fashoda, Sudan (1895 I think).
No combat ensued, but there was a diplomatic crisis between the two countries. The real historical significane of the even was that Britain got a continuous Empire in Africa (north-South), while the French Empire was discontinued between Central Africa and Djibouti.

But Fashoda remained in history as a moment of great nationalist hysteria between the two countries. The hatred which was spewed makes the whole "Gulf-War 2 diplomatic crisis look like a wedding. At some point, the populations even believed both countries would go to war, given the level of hatred.

The crisis resolved fairly quickly.

About two decades later, the French and British were fighting together against the Germans, the first real and sincere alliance of their whole history.
