Your either going to have to read all of Poly (i've mentioned it once), or think that I'm 33.

I'd much rather have you thinking I'm a netrat and me being kicked out of Poly forever than to give away my face, something that can make me so much more open to tracking

There's still something bullshit here. Tassie, are you really worried about your son joining the military? Or just having us on?

Kramerman, I told you was a winner! I'm glad everything worked out for you. I know the pressure you were in, and it's tough and consuming. Remember to live it up and make the very best out of what ever you get to do, full experience. I'm going to the gates of hell in one week, let's see if I win too .

The military does not negate the need for a diploma, and I'm sure a GED doesn't look as good when you apply. In addition, I am aware of some MOSs that require a high school diploma. So don't just blow it off. Hell, I'm not even sure they let you join without a diploma or GED. I've got ASVAB tomorrow, but my recruiter told me I have to finish school before I join. One more year...

hi ,

its possibler to get it inside the military , .....

same for the ged , ....

some mos require a certain diploma but that has not stopped the policy makers in the pentagon of giving those mos to others who dont have the diploma , ....

have a nice day

Tired of ads?

Back on track (all the way from page one)

The Navy now pays for ALL Tuition, minus Books while you're in the service. This is not including Navy College Fund for after his enlisted runs out, as well as the GI Bill.

That said, if he Joins the USN and goes to Nuke school, he'll come out of Nuke school with a B.S. in Nuclear engineering, minus english and history.

only if you are a mindless follower does it take your personality away. I won't deny it can happen. Some people are very susceptable to brain washing. If your son is the type to fall into cults then the military will indeed brain wash them. But most people aren't that gullible.

If anything it enhances your personality in a positive direction. Unless you are just a criminal of some sort- then it might not do much for you.

I knew I was great in high school, but I didn't have the skills and experience to back me up. Now I have that. Now I know I'm just really great. Okay ego trip over.

Being in military is high stress business. If you, as most military personnel do, survive it, you will become a better person. However, it you break down, you end up being one of the monsters (Tim McVeigh, DC shooter) or total losers (many Vietnam vets).

McVeigh didn't exactly break down. He did good in the Gulf war I heard.

Was the DC shooter in the military?

well anyways, some people who join the military are gun nuts I admit. They join to learn and be near guns I suppose.

But if your son is a gun nut, I wouldn't want him to join the military. If so then let it be the air force or navy. While the security forces (and gunners mates in the navy) do fire and qualify on guns, most never touch them. I only touched a gun in the navy when I did temporary duty in security division. And even then we only used guns very infrequently. We only carried around flashlights and clubs (we were on an air craft carrier- no serious crime happens while out at sea).

well true on that.

But if you are on a navy ship out at sea- you will se that virtually no crime other than theft and assault occurs out there. Even though I worked in a fairly dangerous place in the navy, I was still safer there than most major american cities.

Theft was unheard of in the old navy though. There used to be a code sailors went by. But that no longer exists. If you leave something in plain view- it's gone.

You can either :

1. Kill him
2. Send him on holidays to Kolyma or PyongYang
3. Explain him that war is uncool and that he'd better smoke happy grass and drink xenobrewerages.

Poor Comrade Tass...

Are you serious?

I think I've met more diverse personalities in the Navy then I did in college. Are you really calling me, an active duty USN sailor, devoid of personality?

(incidently, I often have mad LAN counterstrike games, and D&D adventures, does that fit your obvious view of the military?)

The DC shooter was a marksman during Gulf War 1. He didn't totally break down after more than 10 years later.

Mental problems don't develop in an instant.
