This is Wes' list, yes? IIRC there was a minor discrepancy between Cradle's numbering system and MedMod's. But if this has been corrected in later updates, then it doesn't matter.
Thoughts: Any unit that is being used in a mod cannot be renumbered. Since CtP2 has a catapult sprite already, the blue catapult and the belfroi (this is the fanmade brown one, I think) are no longer used, so can be moved. The frigate and carrier are also custom and unused. We have four spaces 98 99 100 113 which are serving no purpose currently. If we were to abritarily move the last four into those gaps, we'd have a big space 168+ to play with for new sprites, as well as of course 139-150, into which I suggest we put some of Carneron's less sci-fi sprites.

Also, the hosting of custom sprites is a mess. They're scattered between two "files" pages, the directory, and half-a-dozen fan sites which come and go like leaves in a breeze. If we get all fan sprites onto the Depot, we can link them properly, even set up a database, search page or something.

darn. That, of course is the other problem. Getting the names sorted. I really can't see anyway of being 100% standarised without images of each one...
Sprites not on the list that I found after a quick scan of the directory and recent threads:
John Wiley's three musketeers:
http://apolyton.net/ctp/modificatio...tion=go&id=1767
Lev's satellite (His attack 'copter is APP #97 and missile cruise, #96)
http://apolyton.net/ctp/modificatio...tion=go&id=1764
Crousto's planes
http://apolyton.net/ctp/modificatio...tion=go&id=1781
"Steve"'s satellite unit.
The Combat Engineer from CtP1. New tgas needed. Mine suck. This was/had been allocated #113 later on in that thread.
Alper Saracoglu's 38 of mixed cultural background.
My Battering Ram and Xbowman here
BigMC's dinos * 3/4? Allosaur, Stegosaur and Parasaur ( +Anklyosaur?)
Stankarp's: heavy spearman, phalanx, war chariot, galley, heavy cavalry, legion, (keshik on the way ?)
FRITZ has just released 9 more AD 1800 units - all animated, movement and attack, a little off-centre of tile, but very nice-looking in with his EUROPE 1800 scenario.
And law's 9 units I have somewhere.
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...&threadid=30326
I've searched the forum back to when Tom released his Chariot. I can't guarantee that's the lot of them, but I'm not about to double-check.

I tried the above links and for the first 3, got a "congratulations you found a missing page error"??
30326 did connect though.
Locutus, can I bundle up all my sprites into one folder and submit them for you to put in the units section of the ctp2 information pages? I can also do Canerons units as well if you like as I downloaded all of them.
I have Med mod, SAP and Cradle downloaded and my numbers for sprites were inserted into gaps(except for cataphract- need to give that a new number). They are.
-194 Auxilliary Legion.
-Cataphract 086
-Galley 187
-Heavy Cavalry 169
-heavy spearman 157
-Phalanx 196
-war chariot 146.
-legion 195

The three paratroopers and four unique infantries in the WW2 scenario have not been assigned sprite numbers. Request we put the Marines at least in with the other scenario units/WW2 tanks and planes at numbers 98,99,100.
If we also relocated the AP1 units (horse archer, privateer, 'copter and missile cruiser) we'd have room for the infantries in 94-97. Do any CtP2 mods use the 4 Apolyton Pack units?
edit: ok, MM2 does. Scrap that.

Ok... The index is now updated to where Wes left off. I have added Lev's satellite to #98 and Crousto's planes as #99 and #100. This fills that gap nicely.
edit: I have since replaced these, as they clashed with WAW sprite allocation. They are now at #149,#150 and #164.
Which leaves (as a maximum - see Appendix):
Numbers to Assign:
code:
009 (1)
200 (1)
-----
(2)
2 spaces.
+166/167 ???
And these sprites to put into it... In order of groups of priority (IMO)
quote:
C:CtP: 27 still unassigned
abolitionist, bomber, cavalry, c-branch, cyberninja, crawler, diplomat, drone,
ecoranger, fascist, fighter, fire trireme, infector, lawyer, m-gunner, marine,
mounted archer, phantom, pikeman, pod, sea engineer, slaver, space fighter, spy,
s-bomber, tank, televangelist,
Immortal Wombat: 1
Battering Ram
FRITZ: 9
Europe 1800 units. Musketeers, cossacks, etc.
Alper Saracoglu: 39
(all unanimated)
Harlan Thompson: (lots)
WW2 Unit pack.
(all unanimated) But lots of 'planes and ships that don't need movement animation, and still look fine.
I have 140 on file. I'm not sure how many of these are new and unique. Most I think. NB: 198 and 199 are from this pack IIRC.
LittleWing: 8
Fantasyesque units.
Only a couple usable in 'real' historical context.
BlueO: 5
Sprites mentioned in his AltoSciFi newsprite.txt, but #ed out
#SPRITE_SKY_ANGEL, SPRITE_WAR_GODDESS,
#SPRITE_IMPERIAL_SHADOW_TROOPER
#SPRITE_BATTLE_MECHA, SPRITE_AL_GROUND
Do they even exist?
Big Mc: 4
Allosaur, Stegosaur and Parasaur ( + Anklyosaur?)
"Steve"'s Satellite (directory)
With sounds IIRC. But... no space in CtP2
John Wiley's Three-coloured musketeers
(unaminated)
Lars Anders Willen (law): 9
Mostly fantastic, or sci-fi.
(unanimated)
|
Please forgive me if I've missed anyone or anything out.
Also on the depot I have uploaded thumbnails of the first 50 of those (the C:CtP, WW2 ones, Stankarps and mine) but they aren't linked in a page yet. You can access them by FTP in the directory root/sprites/imgs/un# . I think it would be useful to have these indexed anyway, even if they aren't in the first 200.
Queries:
#110: Noted in WesW's list as Rifleman. Which is this?
166: Down as Storm Marine. Surely this is #73?
167: Down as Airborne. Is this the Para Transport plane? This is #54
Why does gl_str.txt say CYBERATTORNEY? Is there actually a CyberAttorney? I can't find one.
Appendix:
Cradle places IW's crossbowman at 188 and a hurricane at 176 and the C:CtP slaver at 190. These are fine.
But Cradle and LOTR also introduce four duplicitous numberings with MedMod standard:
SPRITE_PROPHET 192 #TD's spy - Wes used 151
SPRITE_DROMON 189 #CtP1 longship - Wes used 112
191 - CTP1 Archer # Wes used 120
194 - CTP2 Zulu2 # Wes used 72
At this point, the number of downloads for Cradle and MedMod makes the task of eliminating this impossible. So we've got the four units in there twice. It also means we should - if we had wanted to - put all the C:CtP units in the block ending 191, to swallow up the Longship-Slaver-Archer (Cradle 189-191), with only the Crossbowman as an interruption.
Also, the CATTLE sprite is in there twice, as numbers 1 and 9. This can be removed without difficulty.
For clarity:

Well done, IW. This should save people a lot of time.
Notes: In the index,
41 Ship of the Line should be Destroyer.
95 (Privateer) and 96 (Missile Cruiser) aren't animated. I've always hoped that someone would do animated versions of these.
IIRC, WesW's 110 Rifleman is the same as the 119 Musketeer, but I have a vague recollection of seeing a different sprite in Wes's CTP1 Mod. If this is wrong, see below.
"166: Down as Storm Marine. Surely this is #73?" It's a CTP1 sprite that's different from #73.
Suggestions:
110: WW2 Pillbox. I'm using it as an immobile unit (not a tile improvement) that you can build in cities to try to counter the tank rush. I've got SLIC that makes them vulnerable to Bombers, Fighters, and especially Cruise Missiles.
I'm also using:
brown marine (BRITISH_PARATROOPER) 120
SPRITE_BLUE_GENERAL 110
SPRITE_BROWN_GENERAL 111
SPRITE_GREEN_GENERAL 113
Any suggestions as to where I should slot these in?
Some of the CTP1 sprites could be useful: cavalry, fascist, ship of the line (it's slightly different from the CTP2 one). I don't have access to CTP1 at the moment so I can't check out the others.

I wondered, but I only had the *tgas and CtP1 vidoes at the time, and from different angles it all looks different anyway, and I wasn't sure. But if #166 is the CtP1 sprite, what is #73? There isn't a storm marine unit in CtP2, did they make an updated sprite and then never use it?

At the moment I'm thinking 141-150 would make a good slot for the rest of the WW2 sprites, but it might depend on whether we choose to remove BlueO's sprites from the list. In terms of general usefulness they come somewhere near the bottom of the list: meven most scenarios are unlikely to be built around BlueO's own private scifi/fantasy world.

I have SAP, Cradle, Med Mod and WAW downloaded. I allocated my sprite numbers to ones not used by the above.
They are as follows. Please note the Legion is a re work of the original version and has a plume on his helmet and attacks with the gladius to distinguish him from the auxilliary. The auxilliary is the original legion I did but he attacks with the pilum.
1) heavy spearman-157
2)phalanx-196
3)chariot archer-146
4)heavy cavalry-169
5)galley-187
6)peltast-191
7)legionary-195
8)auxilliary legionary-194
9)cataphract-193

Hi IW,
I havnt done it yet, will use 141-149.
I will be doing about 7 sprites for my Medieval period expansion later this year.
I envisage trebuchet, mameluke, fuedal cavalry, jannissary, paladin, foot knight and a foot raider as well as using the samurai sprite.
