I'm making My fantasy Mod, and since the graphics take time to do, and I'm doing alot of graphics, and I have more time away from a computer than on a computer I have alot of sketches that I have done, My Bro suggested using the skecthes temporarily as the graphics until he and I have done the graphics in 3D, but the idea occured that it might be a cool graphical version, Hand Drawn Civ3....
EDIT: Whoops I went to Edit the Orc and deleted instead... Posting Below

Thats an interesting idea. I'm not sure I would use it frequently but it would be nice to see.

Ok, Terrains take some time to make up, sketching each type, scanning, editing to fit the pcx format, etc etc, but It'll come along, I thought I'd show what I've done so far, the land colours are difficult to edit, its not as easy as it originally seemed...
I only continued with this idea becuase I can make screen shots from in game as maps for my roleplay characters

Originally I drew a set of necromancer buildings for one of the Races, but since that uses up an entire set of graohics for the ONE race, I put that on the shelf, But the Barbarians are going to be: Evil Butterflies, Skeletons and Sea Serpents.
So here is a Barbarian Camp:

I have to agree, it feels like you're looking at a map of a RPG/Fantasy-world, definately a great touch.

I think this is an astonishingly terrific idea! It would be perfect for a fantasy scenario. It would be especially good for a Tolkien mod.
Do NOT stop! Keep up the good work! It's a wonderful original idea.

Ok, I'm still working at this now, but in a hand drawn map, what do you do in the spaces between the mountains and forests.. usually its blank, but in the game world, how can you tell between desrt, plains and grasslands... Heres the sub-bits I've drawn, scanned and cut out ready... but have you SEEN how many terrain objects there are??? Am I going to hand draw each and every version? NOPE.... well maybe later on... but for the moment I've pasted a 1/4 icon in appropriatesections of the Terrain Icons...
p.s. the first 12 are coastal.... then its Desert, Grassland, Tundra and Plains... (tundra sux at the mo.. but I'm working on something...)

As a bit of Fun... and something to have while I work on the Mod,....
Sutekh the Destroyer... Eater of Souls.... your Bad is his Good.... (My cousin Matty plays the Necromancer in all our Test Runs, and he allways names him Sutekh.. from both Egyptian Diety, but also a Dr Who episode)
