So what... a corked bat, big deal. It won't be the first time somebody cheats, and it won't be the last time.

It's kind of funny... he's been so bad since he came back from the injury, probably figured he needed to do something

At least they were winning when he wasn't in the line up... and as far as trading him, it isn't going to happen.
He sells tickets, and that's really all the Tribune Company is interested in.

It's amazing that baseball is really one of the only sports where cheating happens all the time. People steal signs, scuff up the ball, cork their bats... and while getting caught gets you in trouble, nobody really seems to care.

It used to be fun watching the Umps search Gaylord Perry. Everybody in the stands knew he was loading up the ball, and the ump never seemed to be able to find the gel

Bats have to be all wood, because a corked bat increases bat speed (allowing you to hit the ball harder). One reason is because it's unfair to have this edge. Another is that it might be dangerous to the pitcher.

Gaylord Perry never cheated, he just used, uh, unorthodox methods of ball handling. Yeah, that's it.

Now, baseball got to be the only game aside of racing sports in which equipment can explode.
