Every time I go south of Watford Gap, I come back feeling far more despondent than when I went down... regardless of how good a time I actually had down there.

Maybe it's the leaving London that makes you despondent? The sudden realisation that you have to now return to the squalour you call home.

Go drink a glass of water out of the Thames, and tell me London isn't squalid.

Your never more than 40 feet from a rat, for one thing... although the rats sometimes have 2 legs, not 4.

It's a great place to visit, but I'm never going to try living there again.

I've seen Australian tourists actually lift the glass - and dump it pretty quick when they had a good look at it.

YOU are the one who implied London wasn't squalid.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

For the first time this weekend, I actually felt out of place in London. Discounting the rather random empty feeling I often get, I've always felt vaguely comfortable there. Wandering around Leicester Square alone on a Saturday evening (I was waiting for a friend) is mildly disconcerting though...

You should have gone to the Trocadero to kill the time.

Is the Guiness World of Records still there? It's the only reason I can think of to go to the Trocadero.

Yeah, but quotes aren't quotes if you start messing with the spelling?

Oh I like London, I actually feel pretty comfortable there, not out of my 'safety zone' if you know what I mean, not compared to many other cities in the UK...surprisingly the bigger they are the more comfortable I feel, probably to do with the cosmopolitan nature of larger cities...anything goes. The only things I have against London is the price of living there and the endless commuting...other than that, it is another of my spiritual homes

Oh yeah, The Trocadero...do they still have that big ride thing in there that drops you at terrifying speeds and hence I refused to go on for fear of showering the whole of the place in vomit?

I'm travelling to London from U.S. first week of September. Where's a good club in London for a foreigner to pickup a nice British girl?
