always on cops and what not there's always dozens of prostitution busts and what not and on tv, the inner city is portrayed as having dozens of prostitutes on the street.
but honestly, living for as many years as i have in philly, i have rarely seen prostitutes. I mean we got plenty of morally loose women and some who even have sex with men for material things but outright prostitutes seem a rarity.
so is it just some kind of white trash thing out in Gary, Vegas, or detriot? or am i just glazing over the prostitutes here in philly?

i'm thinking there's a fairly strong police prescence that prevents them from being out on the street real visible. i mean on Cops and what not, they're always right there looking very much like prostitutes trying to get johns but i dont see none of that in philly... probably it's underground

Being somewhat acquianted with the industry, I think it's fair to say you generally only see streetwalkers at certain times of the day or night.
They're not stupid. They earn off passing traffic. No traffic, no work = streetwalkers.
That's not to say you won't find them at the quieter times in bars, hotels, cinemas, restaurants, in fact anywhere people go.
I can understand you being pi55ed off about the portrayal of your home town as somewhat more in your face than it really is - but hey, that's the media. Give them a cockroach and they'll stick a zoom mike on it to make it look like a bad sci fi movie.
Just because you can't see them working lasses (and lads) doesn't mean they aren't there. They just don't always wear "work clothes" or a big flashing neon sign that says "pu55y for hire".

yeah its probably just not as blatant as it's portrayed on cops or tv. and now that i think of it, there's plenty of whore-looking women all over but i never think they're really whores... part of the thing is just the style of real small clothes so you can't tell.

Of course, who cares one way or another? Are prostitutes really hurting anyone?
I think not.

I don't know. A lot of guys get rejected, even by loser women. Plus, if you get a hooker, you don't have to worry about her phoning you up, busting you in front of a girlfriend or wife, you don't have deal with her problem. You pay your money, get your time, and you're done.
Plus, in the bars, the hooker tend to be of a slightly higher class, depending on the bar. Street walkers are the lowest of the low, but they're also cheap. And who knows, maybe some guys like the scabby, toothless look. Personally, I'd never use a prostitute that wasn't gonna cost me a week's pay. At least she'll be good looking and disease free.

Alexander's Horse:
that's my point... i dont understand why prostitutes are portrayed as being everywhere in the city, when i frankly dont see too many. now and then yeah... but if cats want some action, they just find a non-tricking loose woman. i dont see no transactions involved a la prostitution.
although it is obvious sometimes that places do partake in prostitution what with ads talking about 'escorts' and 'full-body message'... and a couple strip clubs got some women hanging around that probably are hookers. so maybe i wasnt really paying attention to it. but still... i think the non-tricking whore is the new way for horny pervert johns to get some.
