	Newspaper Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I was just wondering, would the ISDG ever need a newspaper? It isnt the same as the MoI because they are articles in the newspaper and they dont just give facts. So what do we think about this idea?

A newspaper would be great!

There is only one problem with the idea though. Prior to our gaining contact with all teams, we cannot publish beyond this private forum (one of the ISDG rules is no communication with teams we lack in-game contact with). Reporting the most basic of news might break that rule.

Having it here would be good though. Also, once we gain contact with the other 4 teams we could publish a 'light' section for propaganda and fun purposes.

Don't pay attention to him NM, I think it's great you'd like to make a newspaper for our forum.


UnOrthO was a memeber who was going to do a paper and then some unfortunate things got said and done and the paper died before it got off the ground. He has an awesome paper for the Single Player Democaracy Game(SPDG)

Aro is a memeber who has made some very awesome looking maps for other Democracy games and contibutued to newspapers for other games as well.

mind you the sarcasm the reasons were precisely those that BF mentioned, notably UnOrthO's resignation from the team when he was supposed to do a newspaper here too

I was not implying anything other than that both of them would make valuable additions to the newspaper if you could get them involved.

If you have the time and desire, go for it NM.

I think most of the objections revolved around the fact that it is well known I email out copies of papers I do, sometimes to folks outside of the site as well in an attempt to actually begin some sort of a job doing more RL news/writting. Even though I did not intend to do such with the paper here until the game was over, some objected to the very idea.

Keeping it in this forum I don't think would be a problem.

Believe me, people will read it. You won't get allot of replies typically, but they read it. Let me give you a bit of something I learned over the last debacle. Don't worry about what people want. If you want to do it and will have fun doing it, go ahead and do it regaurdless of what is or is not said.

This is how it will go, NM..

You work hard for a few hours making a paper and post it right before bed. Next morning you get up to see how well it was received, you will likely notice there are...oh, probably 5 replies, 10 if it is a good day. Then you will notice off to the right there, it says there were around 70 views.

Yes, they get read, people are just lazy about replying to them.

Actually, many of the active members here have a lot on their plates. Don't be discouraged. Set your pen to paper and see what you can come up with.

To be honest, with 3 demo games going (aside from this one) I think Polyzens are spread more than a little thin. Some people think the lack of activity here is due to our structure. I think the answer can be found in the fact that there are 6 teams in the PTW DG, 8 teams in the PTW DG II, and another team playing the public DG. That's 15 teams other than this one which must have plans made for, diplomacy conducted for, and must be led. No wonder participation is less than it could be. However, your paper could do a lot to attract more interest here, NM. Please give it a go.

I'm interested in reading what you put out for the newspaper. NYE is probably right though about the 'Poly members being spread thin. I like trying to keep up with the democracy games, but I now have four to keep up with along with real life. And since I haven't had a history with the democracy games until recently I'm playing a bit of catch-up on all but the PTWDGII.
