The hell you are. I'm pretty common and I talk/type better than that. Then again, I've never typed hammered.
Most of what I knew about sex that would be practically useful for having sex, I learned from other kids. And even without other kids, there would always have been men's magazines. All sex ed taught me was a detailed diagram of the interior male and female anatomies.
Oh, so I guess it was technically the first thing to tell me where the...is the word censored here?....the "happy-button" is. Other than that, all my five years of sex ed gave me was a guarantee that I would never, till the end of my days, forget words like "corpus luteum" and "vas deferens." Even if I tried I doubt I could forget them. But the actual sex part can be learned from other kids.

The school's spiel is simply not effective. I don't know any virgins that aren't either extremely religious or simply introverted.

The school really isn't changing anybody's mind about sex. It has a lot more to do with upbringing. Since people are so willing to take the risks in order to have sex, it would, in my opinion, be wiser to simply explain how one can minimize those risks, rather than simply rail against sex.

Interesting Differences.
In my school in Germany we had Sex Ed. with maybe 14 or 15 and its Focus was very much on the different methods of Birth Control.
Of course most of the things taught there we already knew
But it seemed to be eficient, as til the end of school (at the age of 19) there was AFAIK only one case where one of the 180 pupils was going to be father (with someone from outside) and none of the girls at school got pregnant during this time.

But maybe because the Society here is less religious, most parents actively try to get their kids informed about sex and Birth Control. So unwanted pregnancies here seem to be strongly correlated to Education, with unwanted pregnancies more likely occuring at families with lower Education (worker-calss and the like) and less likely in Families with higher Education.

Increase Your PM Length

In middle school, sex ed consisted of us spending a week of PE in a classroom watching videos about "Am I Different Now?" etc. Naturally, the sole purpose of the course was so that we could ask the PE teacher several mildly explicit questions and laugh. Most (read: all) of the kids thought it was a complete waste of time, and stupid.

In my freshman year, it was "Anatomy", and a part of biology. It focused mostly on the biological aspects (as in the internal mechanisms).

Put an end to popups!

same here! Sex ed= explaining the machinery+birthcontrol!

Teachning abstinence at Sex ed classes is like preaching for watching TV and playing video games all day at literature class.

It's really stupid. None of us care about what they tell us. We're like, "just STFU and let us go to lunch, this is pointless, WE DON'T CARE! "

Just get rid of sex-ed, and you'll be on the way to perfecting the school system (wow, next on the list is a biggie.... cursive )

I think the best way of stopping kids bonking is to place them in a classroom and have a bearded and earnest middle-aged Geography teacher explaining sexual practices in enthusiastic and stunningly explicit detail. Perhaps going into the time he first gave his long-suffering wife an anal orgasm. He shoul also explainthat this is a good, healthy thing to do.

It'll put them off it for years.

I agree with Azazel.
It always depends on what you are told during Sex Ed..

If the kids are just told to be abstinent til their marriage and aside from this the teachers just give a brief explanation about the biological functions of the genitalia, it is for sure that it is worthless.

But if really important things are taught, such as AIDS and the use of Condoms and other measures of Prevention (like the pill), sexual education might be really important (and could prevent a lot of unwanted pregnancies )

Probably the best advice here! For extra credit they can watch a "business-end" video of The Miracle of Childbirth, in color, complete with placenta. I felt no desire whatsoever for the female form for weeks after I saw that video. Ugh.

Sounds a bit too much like the mad woman who wormed her way into the RE ( Religious Education, a manditory part of the Scottish curriculum ) classes and started to rant about how having an abortion was murder and showed various clips of still born foetuses to emphisize her point.

The school nurse was livid.

Of course when this is mentioned the teacher giving the Sex Ed class falls back on the tried and tested theory of abstainance by saying "but of course, the best way to avoid catching a sexually transmitted disease is not to have sex in the first place."

What we should do is infertilize the entire population of 13 to 18 year olds, to be safe. Maybe we should consider lowering it to 11, though, I hear them kids are tucking in early these days.

Suffering from ads?

Many programs which promote abstinence do so by lying about other methods of protection. For example: the program here in Jacksonville teaches the condoms don't work. This only encourages kids not to use protection at all, since there's no point if it doesn't work. Consequently, higher rates of pregnancies and stds.

On the other hand, in schools where traditional sex ed is taught, kids are less likely to engage in sex, and those that do are more likely to use protect and not get diseases of pregnant.

This is yet another case where the conservative agenda is at odds with the results it claims it wants to achieve.
