Mrs Horse sounds like a big fat backmonkey.

You should drop that bag like a nun drops a bad habit.

We ain't got no steenking list here, Haymuncher! You're always welcome to be forgiven for ANYTHING, absolutely free of charge! All I gotta do is shake your hand and look in your eyes to know you're being HONEST. If you're lying, you will burn up like so much kindling on a bonfire beneath the feet of burning Witches.

I'd marry you myself if my heart were in the right place. Gotta have a heart before you can have an attack, right?

Your time will come girl. One day you'll be madly in love with somebody and it will be all over red rover for you.

In fact I predict that given your rather jaundiced view of marriage you will end up married to a very conventional boy who will see it as his mission in life to change you for the better and you will be attracted to him for the stability and emotional security he brings to your life.

"he used to be a shy boy until I made him my boy" - that sort of thing. Probably an accountant.

Ah yes, I can see it now, "yes dear, no, dear", making his sandwiches, plumping his pillow.

Its all ahead of you girl.

You should not go through life without having children.

You should not have children without the parents being married or under other religions/beliefs, be absolutely certain that you will not part the spouce/partner. (Basically, that's what marriage is designed for).

You should not get married unless you are to go through the best and worst with each other.

Marriage is not the problem. YOU (everyone who can't handle marriage) are the problem.

Oh yeah - children. The little buggers just take over.

What amazed me about kids, and I was exactly the same, is their incredible sense of entitlement. They believe my whole purpose in life is to feed them, clothe them and entertain them, and increasingly to bankroll them for all their crap activities.

In frustration one evening recently I asked them how they thought Mummy and Daddy spent our time before they came along. They just stared at me blankly. Dead silence around the dinner table.

So true - my kids also think if you run out of money you just go to the bank and they give you more.

I've been ticked off by my kids for not going to the hole in the wall when I run out of cash.

thank god this thread is joking. there are too many ****head feminazis out there who pump our college girls' brains full of **** like "marriage is rape" and male heteros need rape to live.

also, yes, divorce is too easily done these days--no one really thinks through. but evidently they didn't think through their marraige, what makes you think they'll think through their divorce?

Marriage is for SUCKERS. It's a way to keep you strapped down to your chair via your testicles or your ovaries. At least testicles are already external. Ovaries are pretty small and are occluded by a great deal of flesh.

In Muslim countries, you can divorce a spouse by repeating 3 times:

I divorce you.
I divorce you.
I divorce you.

And that's it. It seems to me that marriage is a much more oppressive institution than any found in political organisations or corporations. In modern day USA, we are barely half a step above arranged marriages.

I really like the sound of that:
I divorce you.
I divorce you.
I divorce you.

In fact:
I divorce you.
I divorce you.
I divorce you.

I'm feeling much better already.

Here's what I think: To each his own. If you don't want to be married, don't get married and don't dump upon those who do.

you are high girl

marriage only benefits the woman

there is no benefit to the man.

Alimony and child support are the biggest reasons.

And almost always the woman always gets custody of the kids. Even if the woman was the one cheating.

marriage is a great way to increase your personal wealth if you are a woman. and you can get a man to pay all of your debt. It's a win-win situation for a woman.

I would like to get married. But I'd have the woman sign a pre-nuptual agreement first. Hey that agreement is to protect her as much as it protects me. It is possible she may make more money than me.

This one's pretty funny, and has the added benefit (for me at least) of being about a woman who has very many traits in common with my girlfriend.

Yea, mine does that too. Keep reading. Does your wife wait until the opening of the movie to get up and do something for about ten minutes and then return and ask what's going on? I'd bet my life that my girlfriend hasn't managed to see the beginning of one film of the thousand or so we've seen together.

Ok, let's get you up to speed. Bogart is playing this American guy named Rick who owns a bar in Casablanca, which has been taken over by Nazis. The woman getting on the plane is his ex-lover and the man with her is her husband, who Rick has just given up his ticket for. The plane is their last chance to escape the Nazis. The French guy is the local police chief, who though he pretends to collaborate with the Nazis, actually hates them and has a soft spot in his heart for Rick.

Let's see... we've got one thread saying that marriage sucks for females, and one thread that says that marriage sucks for males.

So what's it like in homosexual marriages then? It seems like it must work out well because they've been struggling to get it recognized for so long. What generally happens in such a divorce?

I think that both sides suck, and as an ironic twist, this lowers the standards, resulting in each gender thinking the other is the bees knees.

Good point. Marriage has many benefits for both the man and the woman, yet who gets married because of these benefits? People get married when they find someone they can't live without. The rest is just icing on the cake.

As for myself, I've had two good parents who await their 25th anniversary in another month. I hope that I will be able to say the same.
