	Breaking News: Saddam's two sons are killed by US Special Forces. Remove this text

I just saw this on MSNBC. Apparently, the US had gotten a tip from a man captured in a previous raid the US conducted in Mosul that Saddam's two sons Uday and Cosay were in a house in the Iraqi city of Mosul. The US forces raided the house and there was a huge gun fight in which both of Saddam's sons were killed.

This is great news! So what do you think? Will this have an effect upon the moral of the Saddam Fetahine who keep planting bombs and shotting at soldiers in Iraq?

There is no place in the world where they would receive a FAIR trial. They had numerous chances to surrender b4 today......They could have been in exile but chose to stay.

Why not? If only half of the rumours about their crimes are true, they could make a trial quite easily. Plus, I think it would be important for the Iraqi public.

Well, it would have been important for Iraqi public to see their former leaders tried and sentenced to what ever the punishment is. To me, life in prison for these would have been enough, in harsh conditions. Or I don't know, maybe they deserved something worse, something they did to others, innocent folks. But then again we don't have to go to the same level, level of beasts and evil to get back. Headshot will do justice. And it did.

Besides, they decided to go down with bullets flying in the air, they put up a fire fight. So, there's not much of a chance capturing them alive. Besides, I believe that at the end of the day, they might have had more balls than their old man and they could've offed themselves knowing what's coming. So better we got to do it our way, than they their way.

Better to have caught them alive and start a trial against them, but well...you can't have everything. Still, it's something good for both Americans and the people of Iraq.

Well, the military seems very sure of themselves (unlike all the other times they have been positively killed), os that is good news.

NOw, wil it lower the number of attacks on Americans? now that is the 64k dollar question, no? If not, then we have issues, cause our theory of what is happening in Iraq would be wrong.

GePap, I don't know the structure of command in Iraqi resistance.. I don't know, maybe there are strong leaders and personalities, that the men are respecting and continue fighting for them. I don't know.. but without strong leader(s) they won't go for long. However, I suspect that they have few.

Yes Pekka, but this assumption is based on following the Pentagon notion that all the resistance is made up of Baathist leftovers, so get rid of the top Baathists, and Ta da. Which is why the change in level and types of attacks on Americans now after this is crucial to see. If no significant change occurs, or if levels creep up instead of dow, then the annalysis that it is all Baathist doings may be wrong.

I don't mean to sound like a butthole, but my trust for pentagon information is kind of low. I take it as a guidance, but not as truth .

Cutting of the head might not kill the body. If there are experienced leaders, they might be also motivated to continue, as they face something nasty if they surrender, and if they are able to continue, they can fantasize about being the top guys for future Iraq, when invaders have been toppled.

I mean, Iraqi leaders could have never expected to last the US attacks. This is what they wanted, this is what it has come down.. now I wouldn't count on it to stop when these guys falled today. Maybe it slows down for a while, maybe they need a little regrouping and organizing. Again, this is only my opinion and speculating.
