Boris, can we have a little more detail on why you can't iron? Don't own an iron? Had both hands amputated? Mother never taught you?

All I know about polyester is that it makes me sweat like I've been pumping iron for an hour. Oh, maybe that's why it's popular again with the club set. I mean it's one thing to look butch, but if you can smell butch too? What would a club dance floor crowded with men wearing polyester smell like? Would anyone hire an interior decorator who had just come from such a dance floor?

Trade Secret: 5-8 minutes in the dryer on low heat or tumble dry. You won't get the crisp crease that you want in dress pants, but everything else comes out fine.

I have 100% Irish parentage, on both sides. I am also a big gay queer, and teetotal.

I happily iron, even my partner's work shirts (although I draw the line at ironing underwear).

Ironing can be therapeutic- put some rosewater or orange blossom water in the water reservoir, breathe in the delicate perfume of freshly laundered and ironed clothes, preferably listening to some choice music on the Walkman or sound system- I find Grace Jones's 'Nightclubbing' or Bowie's rereleased 'Aladdin Sane' or Alberta Hunter's 'Amtrak Blues' make a great accompaniment.

Germans?

Now when you hear 'Iron' and 'Germans' in succession, what do you think of (think 20th Century please)

Hermann Goering- advising that the German people should eat less butter and more iron. Satirised by John Heartfield in the photomontage:

'Hurrah! Die Butter ist alle!'

http://www.geh.org/ne/mismi2/m197600760025_ful.html

which was used by Siouxsie and the Banshees as the cover for their single: Mittageisen

Reunion beginnt
mit einem Glas Quecksilber
Fernsehen flimmert
für noch eine Nachricht
Flinten beleucten die Augen
Der sitzenden Familie

"Metall ist stark, Metall will scheinen
verrostet nicht wenn geschmiert und rein"
"Metall ist stark, Metall will scheinen
Metall regiert in meinem Meister-Plan"

Mit mechanischem Rucken
pflücken die Taschen Uhrzähne
zum Mittagessen Freitag
im Rückprall sagt "Verzeihung
zurück muss ich kehren
meine liebe Maschinerie"

Es beherrscht unser Leben,
es bringt kein heil
Ich schreibe ein paar Zeilen
Das Wetter hier ist fein
Doch dröhnt es Tag und Nacht
Durch Lautsprecher

I can iron, but I usually get other people to do it for me.

Boris, could we have your gay lifestyle membership card back please? And the free towel too.
