Can anyone give me a satisfactory answer WHY we killed Udai and Kusai? Got spare money?

I was listening to this local political moronic pundit, and he played some clip a British reporter asked one of our high up's at a press conferance yesterday in Iraq......

"Mr. General, the American's are famous for their skill in being able to siege a place, to surround it, cordon it off and keep the occupants inside till they surender, they only had 2 ak 47's, why didnt you cordon the area off and wait?"

The generals response was "Next question"(exact response).

The political pundit moron started screaming "He said they only had 2 ak 47's? LETS SEE HOW YOU LIKE BEING SHOT AT WITH AK 47's!!!!!!"

Completley missing the point....... there was no need to endager our men. Afterwards we started unloading rpg's and 50 caliber machine gun fire all over the building.......

We should of sieged it, tear gassed it or SOMETHING........ why the hell DIDNT WE SIEGE IT??? We had time on our side, we had no shortage of materials, its not like we were in hostile territory...... worst case they commit suicide, best case they live and we put them on trial.

WHY THE HELL DID WE JUST KILL THEM WHEN WE HAD THE OPTION NOT TO??????????

If we had been intending to kill them do you really think the stand off would have lasted as long as it did?

I'm simply guessing here. But I assume our combat troops are equipped with weapons that deal death and not submission.

One reason I can think of is that Iraqis are terrified of them. They were ruthless people, and alot of Iraqis were scared that they would somehow come back to power and punishe those who supported the Americans.

I think capturing em could of got the U.S some information, but then I also think the attacks on troops there would have increaded greatly in number.

I suppose it could have had something to do with them choosing to fight it out? But no, Let's blame the US for eliminating these fine upstanding Iraqis.

Well-.. I wasn't there so I don't know what the situation was really like. But, if there was an option to siege them, I think it was worth a shot. But like I said, I was not there and I don't know what the situation was like, so I am in no position to question about there decision.
It's war, these guys were still fighting, didn't want to give up, so I guess you do what you have to do.. but if it was an option, I think it would have been worth it. I'm kind of repeating myself here.

Of course we wanted to capture them, it would have been more embarassing for them.

You don't want to risk the lives of soldiers trying to do something that isn't really necessary.

I heard somewhere that the building in question was suspected of being linked to an underground tunnel network. So when the planned "quick break in and capture" failed and gunfire was returned, the commander on the spot choose overwhelming force as the option to not give people in the house a chance to possibly escape.

Good point... and plus, the engagement took over 6 hours. That's more than enough time to have them give up. They obviously did not want to be taken alive.

There may be some considerations as to try to capture them alive, but overall I'm just tempted to say: "Why not?"

Tired of ads?

I would guess that the troops on the ground did not know exactly who was in the building at the time of the incident... all they knew was that VIPs were in the building, not that it was Saddam's sons.

Probably when they found out, they started shooting in earnest.

As to why they had to die... they were the natural successors to Saddam. With them gone, he has no successor - so even if he isn't captured, his regime will die with him.

Had Saddam been killed/captured and his sons were not... much worse situation in my opinion.

Apparaently Baghdad isn't sad to see them go - so why should we be?

Well I suppose what rah says makes sense. I guess they wouldn't choose a place that is easy to just circle around and all that. Besides, only reasonable other option would be gas the place. They wouldn't come out alive anyway, and in case they noticed theres gas, I suppose they had gasmasks anyway. And if not, they would have either killed themselves, or come out guns blazing. So maybe some kind of anesthetic gas could have been used, IF it was available there and all other things considered.. maybe sieging was not an option this time.

Why did we kill them? The answer is actually rather simple: They were evil and must be destroyed. Plus it saves time rather than wasteing money on a trial.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Why did we kill them? - They were trying to kill us.

Continuing to try and capture them would of put more of our troops at risk, not reduce the risk as some morons in the media would have you believe.

We would of loved to hav put them on trial, but we are just as happy to kill the motherf'ers...

I was wondering how long it would be before the Lima Delta's crawled out of the woodwork to whine about why we killed a couple of mass murderers, torturers and all around thugs who decided to hole up and fight it out.

Yes, we should have ****ed around for days or weeks and inspired their followers to go on a rampage of sniping us and little chickenshit attacks, just so some goddamned pansies don't get their panties in a bunch because we hurt the poor little dears.

Suffering from ads?

Of course, we are occupying a country after fighting an aggressive war against the country (for the record, with little international support, not that I think that's all that relevant). So why shouldn't they snipe at US troops? I'm sure you'd do the same if someone was occupying the US.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

There could have been underground tunnels that would have allowed Uday and Qusay to escape. Also, the more time went by, the more likely Uday and Qusay could have destroyed any documents. If they had destroyed documents and committed suicide, then we would have had nothing.
