King Crimson, or to be more specific the Red-Starless and Bible Black-Larks' Tongues in Aspic-era KC.

It happened to me too, several times. I think they entered my brain and stole my ideas.

I voted for Genesis and King Crimson.
I was on Yes and King Crimson's concerts recently. King Crimson was arrogant and played really short, but I was fully satisfied with it. But I think Genesis is better anyway...
When it comes to Larks... I can't get through the title song. the rest is nice... What was there? Exile, Book of Saturdays, The Talking Drum...

Kingston wall is a finnish band, quite similar to Ozric Tentacles (if you've ever heard)

It's music has some influences from indian/persian music...

I voted for King Crimson, but Yes and ELP are also favorites. I especially like the 3 Yes albums that Bill Bruford played on, Fragile, The Yes Album and Close to the Edge. I just love good drumming, and Palmer from ELP fits the bill as well.

Red was the first one I bought. A friend of mine had the first one, and I liked it. At the used record shop I found a copy of Red and bought. The music was strange and exciting. It scared my friends a bit. I fell in love with it. Soon I was scouring the used record bins looking for anything I could find. Within a year I had everything that they had put out up to that point 1979.

I always wanted to roll into war with King Crimson blaring to scare the crap out of the enemy ala Apocolypse Now.

Genesis wins the prize. Although i ,like some of the Gabriel era songs, i have to admit i lke them more when Collins is singing them. I'm a "Second's out" addict.

I never really got King Crimson and both ELP and Yes are overrated IMO.

I saw Genesis in 1977 or 1978. Gabriel had just left the band, and Collins carried the show. I was impressed. I have always liked Phil Collins for what he did with Genesis as well as his excellent drumming in support of Gabriel, Eno, etc., even though his solo career has been mostly rubbish.

The only solo project to come out of Genesis that i really like is Rutherford's "Smallcreep's Day".
As i write this, i realize that the only copy of it that i have is on a cassette. Got to find it on the net.

Rush deserved to be listed, especially later in their career. I never considered Supertramp to be Prog Rock, but now that I do I suppose they could fit as well. I liked both bands btw. Rush was one of the first (famous) bands I ever saw live, in 1976.

Pink Floyd sucks. Listening to that band makes you dumber I'm sure of it. Yes, Genesis, and Rush are all good in my book though. ELP is ok. Styx is funny but I wouldn't really say they're good. I haven't really heard enough of the other bands to have a valid opinion.

Another King Crimson fan signing in. But I used to like Pink Floyd and John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra too.
