Put an end to popups!

I canŽt say If they are it,
the Beard changes the appearance a lot.

So IŽll wait to see if it is really true (especially the DNA-Analysis might be revealing)
(although I tend to believe it is true)
But after all I think that many Iraquis (especcially his followers) might not be convinced.

As for Publishing of the Photos I have no problems with it, but as other people mentioned, the USA now has lost their rights to complain about other warfaring parties which publish Photos of their dead enemies

I don't like it. I think it stinks.

Nahh, not really, I'm only joking. It is certainly possible, however there will be no way to prove it so it's pointless even suggesting it.

I'm not denying it's them, the dental check seems to show that quite well, but I still say the pictures (as shown on CNN for example) wouldn't convince anyone that wasn't already pretty sure it was them in the first place.

To show the pictures of dead bodies (whoever they are!) in public is disgusting and given the opportunities of computer aided retouching it proves nothing except the low culture of those who show it. The DNA analysis by independent specialists is a far better method to credibly prove their identity. That said, I'm still glad that they were deservedly killed, although i'm a bit disappointed, that the US military was unable to catch them alive and give them to the only authority to judge their crimes, the people of Iraq.

Another possible message of these pictures is "Look what will happen to you, if you continue to resist the occupation of Iraq".

To be honset, in this day and age there really is no reason to believe a picture shown to you. You see a picture of Marylin Monroe canoodling with Elvis, you don't assume they've been ressurected do you?

Once again in this thread there seem to be people who are taking some form of delight or other in the deaths of people. It doesn't matter if someone's the most evil bastard in the world, you don't rejoice at their death - it's just sick

Yup, hypocritical bs, which is nothing new from the US.

Because one was proving to the Iraqi people that they don't need to fear the two sons anymore, and the other was shameless bragging?

You do realise that you can actually reverse that statement and it still applies as much?

How so?

I have no serious doubts to the claim that US forces killed two sons of Saddam Hussein, mainly because I think it has very little relevance to the situation in Iraq. What would they gain if they lied?

Those were people who were killed. Maybe it is better they're dead - but if you're rejoicing in anything it should be at the fact that the regime has been changed, not that these lives have ended.

To be honest it's things like this that show us how little times have changed and no side has any total moral highground over the other.
We find it appalling that we used to put the heads of defeated leaders on pikes, yet we do things like this.

Maybe I am too much the idealist - but I could never find any joy in the death of anyone.

Of course it's no different. Both were propaganda done for the same reason, influencing the opinion of the Iraqi people.

If they do something it's bad, if we the same thing then there's justification for it. Normal state of affairs. Not just a US thing, we all do it.

Personally I think showing the Iraqi bodies is sensible from our point of view and Saddam showing the dead US soldiers was sensible from his point of view.

Then celebrate regime change, not the deaths of actual people.

And what's with the phrase 'bleeding heart' anyway? Is it wrong the care about people?

The difference is, the Hussein's matter, ordinary soldiers don't.
It needed to be proved, or you'd all be saying they were alive; and it matters.

So you mean,
that although you think it is not O.K. that the Iraquis have shown dead ordinary US-Soldiers,
it would have been O.K., if those Soldiers would have been higher ranking US-Generals (and the Iraqis would have to show them to boost morale for their troops)?

Sloww, I'm not trying to get a you, really. I haven't commented on the pictures themselves on whether they're right or wrong though - just people's reactions to this thread.

I have known some very evil people do some very terrible things to people I love. Yet I don't want anyone dead. Maybe that's just me.

They had head wounds? Damn!
I wanted to suggest that we pull out their brains mummy-style, pack their skulls with candy and noisemakers, and swing their naked carcasses from a rope above Baghdad while all the husbands they forcibly cuckolded took a few blindfolded swings with aluminum bats. But with cranial trauma that probably wouldn't work. I'd suggest the thoracic cavity, but I'm guessing the ribs are too springy to make good pinata material. And there would probably be riots over who got the bat first anyway.

They showed the bodies of government leaders.
Not just soldiers. Not even just generals.
Have you never seen pictures of John Kennedy shot, and he was a "good" guy .

There's nothing wrong with having pictures of the deceased - it just depends on the motive. People weren't celebrating the death of John F. Kennedy.

If they don't matter then why was there such a fuss about showing their bodies?

Of course they mattered, to the Americans 'cause it's a visible sign of the human cost of the war and to the Iraqi soldiers/people because it was a morale booster.
