What's this, an usurpation of my duties? If I recall correct, it was agreed, that city 2 (should be Castle Aaauuuggghhh, short CA) will build only warriors for a while and Camelot goes straight for a granary.

Actually, you can get your 2 warriors from Camelot. I decided to give CA the wheat till it's size 2. Meanwhile C builds two 2-turn warriors and then starts a granary. After this, CA builds 3-turn warriors, till the granary is ready (2470BC).

Details see domestic ministers thread.

I updated move orders through 2600BC. Bedevere goes south along the east coast, our 5th warrior explores northeast, and the 6th warrior keeps Camelot happy.

But we may have to change plans if barbarians start coming.

A little *BUMP* would be in order, methinks.

Just to let you know, what we have at the moment. According to the F3 screen, it is the world's strongest military to date (we are strong compared to every single nation). MostWorkers and some defenders are at home right now. The bulk of the offensive forces are in the south and will start a major offensive against the Monkeys soon.

I strongly suggest we make some Musketeers and Longbows for home defense, to have them ready before the war against Team Monkey comes to an end. If someone's going to be backstabbed here, it's not us.

Here's the screenie of our might armies:

I was so focused on the attack on Monkey, that I missed something. We are completely open to attack, should anyone choose to invade through the sea. I don't think CoD has the means, but others just might. There's another reason to keep some defenders at home.

Updated military information. F3 screen from 350 AD. Most of the units (including 3 Settlers) are south, fighting the Monkeys. Most Workers, and a skeletal defense, are north.

Oh, here you are. I have the numbers you asked for.

In the northern part we have:

  • 11 Musketeers
  • 5 Longbowmen
  • 2 Warriors

Which leaves the rest in the south:
  • 17 Catapults
  • 15 Longbowmen
  • 11 Spearmen
  • 7 Musketeers
  • 3 Horsemen
  • 2 Swordsmen

Most of the southern units are back on the Road system, but still far south of our cities. Chasing Monkeys.

The one Galley is on its way south, to make our symbolic appearance at the naval war.

Put an end to popups!

To successfully defend we must upgrade all the Spearman asap.

I do belive we are at war with the latin lovers? What if they choose that it's the right time to invade us?

It is obvious that we do not have a Navy. We need one.
So build harbors in the coastal towns then build galleys.
at least 10 - 20. We can counter atackers at sea even if the losses are high. Blocking works out from time to time depending on the prospectet landing site.

Chasing monkeys is fun but is it still necessary? Do they have a settler? if not, leave them be and defend the citys. Let them come if they wish to. We should leave the longbows in the south, just in case...

Hide the catapults in the citys as well. Start building up infrastructure in the south. Mainly roads to get the units quick to where they are needed. The workers must be protected by nearby Musketeers.

Do we have any chance to get iron? Via trading that is. Without iron we are lost in the long run.

They are dying as we speak. Not a real threat. What would be coceivable, though, is some kind of invasion by the guys winning that war...

One problem here is that our coastal cities are underdeveloped. The one close enough to starting us on a fleet is Swamp Castle. We could also use Joyous Garde, but it sits on a lake, and will not be able to build a Harbor. If we want to use more cities for that, our GA would not help our infrastructure, and we would be stuck with the lack of buildings for very long...

I agree we should start having a fleet, but I personally think it is of low priority.

In the far south lies a source of Ivory. If we take it with a Colony, we can drop the lux slider down to 0%. So yes, killing every last remaining Monkey roaming the continent is very much worth it. Perhaps we can achieve that while dividing our force, so that some soldiers can go back north.

A long Road south is done already—it almost connects us to the Ivory, and allows our forces mobility in the crucial area. All cities are connected as well. Workers are currently starting to improve tiles for our planned FP site (City of Silly Peasants). You can see the Roads in pictures in the turn threads.

That is OctavianX's part. Maybe he can arrange something...

Another way would be to get those last two Monkey cities for a source of Horses. Far fetched, maybe, but enough to have Cavalry, skipping Knights.

How many monkeys are suposed to roam the rainforest in the south?

We should split up our military into five piles. Each consisting of 3 Longbowman, 2 spearman, 1 Musketeer and 3 Catapults. They shoul be lined up in two tiles distance and scour for Apes. If they try to breack through we must suround them.

We know of ten Numidians and some Catapults. However, the Cats have disappeared, either removed or disbanded. Not dangerous, so we can deal with them with a small force, while moving the rest of our units north. This was (is?) the latest plan.

This will not do yet, as they still have boats. Until CoD ships can kill those off, the Monkeys are almost as mobile without Roads as we are with them. If it was not for their fleet, the whole Monkey force would have been destroyed in Whale Song.

It depends on what you call "advice". Asking questions that need to be answered and making others think about strategy is advice in itself.

Oh no, you don't!

Now that you have learned the army status, think about plans for military production: what must be, what needs to be, what would be nice to have. More specifically, how important do you consider building the navy in comparison to building infrastructure first? Also, should we (re)start building new units in the north? What units and how many (must/need/would be nice)?

And, as the official C.O.W.A.R.D., you get to officially set general goals and directions for the existing army! Now, let me tell you what to tell me, so I can go back to playing the save... ;-)

I think a good infrastructure is the base for a solid army and a good navy too.

So i'd emphasis on building the infrastructur now.

But still we must prepare for beeing invaded. The musketeer is still a good defense unit but the best defense is a good offense.

Do we have citys that are able to pull out Musketeer per turn or a longbowman per turn?

I think our goal should be to have at least one Musketeer per town an two Longbowman per town.

That's more offense. What isn't good is, that we can'T upgrade Longbowman to anything...

How long will we have to wait for cavalry? Maybe it would be wise to crank out Horseman now and grade them up later.

Just my 2ct.

No way. The best at the moment is one Musket every 3 turns. 2 in Camelot, but that is going for a wonder, using the GA.

The problem is, we have no Horses. Only the island Monkey have been banished to could be a source. Or, trades. But, obviously, it will be very hard to get any resources bought. So, no real date on Cavalry. We will get the tech soon enough. The resources are the real problem.

Either we conquer them (i.e. take that last island from Monkey to get Horses), or wait it out. We can survive with Riflemen, and can become strong with Infantry.

Maybe Musketeers should be more of a priority, then? Their 3 Attack is still useful, and the possible upgrade is pretty important...

I do not belive in the power of defense.
But you are absolutely right. The only way to do something is build up a large force of Musketeers and grade them up later.

But we should try to get Hoses. At almost any cost. If that means a little fleet then be it. Even if our infrastucture suffers a little we'd need ten or fiveteen ships to invade Monkey island?

Can we get horses from our ally for a short while?
CoD has got horses. We could share this resource.
