i'm all for ****ing responsibility! when i have discussions with people in the real world, i'm always told that i'm too strict about personal responsibility and that i should realize that it aint always about that...
but in any event... i believe in personal responsibility when there's enough parenting and schooling that children actually know what responsibility means... but no, the liberals conveniently destroyed the family...

Now, how about a watch-buying recommendation. I am thinking something reasonably nice and ladylike looking. She had one before that was silver or gold colored. ~500 bucks or so. I'm looking to get away a little cheaper than that. But if I should spend equal to what she had before, tell me. She is a slim girl but decent height: 5-7. Has blondish-brownish hair. Dresses in a laig-back, but conservative manner. She had one of those ones before that was very rectangular in shape, without hour designators and it annoyed her (hard to tell time). So I am leaning to a more conventional look. I need to knowwhat sort to get and what kind of store is the best bet. jewelry in the mall, big, small, etc. I could go by someplace in NoVA on my way up to see her on Tuesday, if I was sure that they would have something nice.

KrazyHorse and Jon:
(real quick so mtg won't get mad)... thats why i have always said i'm a fascist/populist. basically conservative, moderate in some areas, extreme in others, and with a few twists.
JohnT:
don't act like the 1960's had no effect on the rate of teenage pregnancy and drug use.

Speer: "don't act like the 1960's had no effect on the rate of teenage pregnancy and drug use."
I could argue that better statistical gathering techniques, the removal of societal blinders to what was really going on all along, and the rise of the hyper-media has as much to do with the "rise" of particular societal ills as the increase in drug use and other vices of "the 1960s."
Hell, before 1965 nobody really cared how many black kids were having kids... now 40 years later we have interest groups that exist solely to keep that number "up" to an acceptable level (an "acceptable level" is defined by the special interest group as the minimum number of people affected by Problem X needed to support a lobby group on their behalf - you don't want to go below that number or else you're out of a job. You can't support 8 salaries in the DC area if you only have 500 sufferers nationwide.)
Back then there were three TV stations, a number of local papers (like you had the time to read more than 2) and radio stations, no internet and party lines for your telephone. Information just crawled, and you most likely wouldn't have heard about teens having kids nationwide because the networks devoted a grand sum of 6 hours of news a day (one hour morning, one evening), all of them competing against the other in the same time slot.
So people didn't care and they couldn't even know if there was a problem due to the paucity of information... until the 1960s, that is, when a lot of things just seemed to hit critical mass and society exploded.
Personally, it seems to me that we have a situation where once teens were given the means to control their pregnancies, society became more relaxed in matters relating to a wide range of issues, from the way we dress to sexual mores to the problems of poverty. This has removed many of the "pre-libertine" (for want of a better word) assumptions that would've prevented kids from having sex, and the most important restraint still remaining, the church, is mocked by those very people who wring their hands and moan the loudest about the "poor black teens."
...
Plus there's also the fact that most 16 year old boys and girls are stupid and really don't care once they're in the heat of the moment. But you can't do anything about that.

Found with acronymfinder.com:
SO: Supply Officer, Security Officer, Source of Orgasm, System Overheat, Student Organization, Switching Office, Strike Out, Sold Out, Special Order, Sheriff's Office, Sims Online, Significant Other, Sales Out, .......
