Well, if you want to pull an extreme case out of thin air that's unrelated to the star wars kid crap, I could dig up the local one about the 8 year old "bully" in Oceanside Unified School District who was suspended from third grade, forced to go to a continuation school set up for middle school and higher juvenile offenders, because he violated a "zero tolerance" policy when he grabbed a girl by the wrist (not to injure or harm, just to get her attention, but after all, we have to make a stand and show these bullies that zero tolerance is zero tolerance ) and told her "don't say that, that's a bad word!" when she repeated a swear word she'd heard.
So to take your "anyone like you" remark and turn it back, I suppose the Cromwellian twits who made that brilliant decision were "like you" in their sense of proportion in dealing with "bullies."
So let's keep taking out of context extreme examples, shall we? It's sooooo much fun.

I'm taking NYEs side yet again.
Young people who are assaulted and threatened with major violence or death should definately take such things VERY seriously as should the adults in association with the victim.
However, name calling is not too big a thing until it either causes moderate to major psychological trauma or it escelates to violence or the threat of violence.

I didn't pull anything out of thin air, sir. I could post other examples in the last two years from peaceful little Canada. I would suggest there would be many more for you to find if you looked over the crap in your own back yard.
So, yes, a few people who can not keep their hands to themselves get piked along the way to a better place. It is unfortunate if that happens, but maybe adults should show better judgement. At least the predators are no longer free to roam the play grounds in some places, and people will learn.

I'd say going from a prank that got out of hand where some kids took without authorization a video made without authorization and put it online (I'm sure they intended to get it published around the world) to a suicide resulting apparently (not that well written or informative of an article) from chronic harassment and physical threats of violence is a bit of a reach into the ether.

Ah, yes, let's teach all the little buggers a lesson - he would have become a bully anyway. So sad, we take out a few not guilty, while we kid ourselves that we're really dealing with the real problems, but hell, if they do enough to make us suspicious, they're obviously troublemakers.
So far, these policies have been such complete and utter crap that they're being abandoned left and right in southern California, but they were all the rage a couple of school board elections ago.
