I didn't think he was ugly, or particularly fat. He was just kinda stocky. Which lots of kids grow out of.

As for unpopular, he's the most popular kid in his school now.

I don't think this is much of a relief if he became the laughingstock of his whole highschool, or of his whole community.
It's difficult already to bear being the laughinstock of a small group (which he probably was). It must be atrocious to become the laughingstock of a much larger group. I bet his self confidence is now definitely zero

The doofus made a tape of himself doing something embarassing. It's my understanding it was with school property. Being teased is the LEAST of the things he should be worried about. He's lucky the school didn't repremand him for using school property without permission. Internet Stardom isn't something he should be shying away from. Milk it for all its worth.

I'm sorry, but anyone filing frivolous lawsuits get zero sympathy from me. I was happy for this kid, that he should have such embarrasing footage of himself embraced by the Internet community and turned into a legend. When I first heard about this lawsuit (months ago FYI, good to see we're keeping up with CURRENT events Yahoo! News... ), I lost a lot of respect for him. Apparently receiving praise from the inner-geek in a lot of people isn't enough for these greedy sods, now they have to turn spiteful and attack those who exposed him. Yes, those kids did it maliciously, but NEWS FLASH, their act had the unintended consequence of turning him into an Internet Darling. The worst thing he should do to those kids is NOT give them so much as a dollar for busfare. If not that, then get on the school's case to punish the kids who also abused/vandalized school property by taking the tape and uploading it. That's where this case should end.

I guess the parents don't want their son to make the most of this. They want their piece and they want to take it out of the other parents. Shame on each of you for lending support to frivolous lawsuits like this.
