I actually prefer Heinlein. Asimov had good ideas and decent plots, but his writing and dialogue was sloppy most of the time, to say the least.
I've read Starship Troopers and yea, the book sounds quite fascist. Maybe he had a dual personality? Anyway, I've read interpretations of the book that make it less weird (in comparison with his other books that is) but it was kinda forced and I don't remember it anyway.
