One morning we found an almost naked, fat corpse in the apartment building I used to live in. This one isn't much better as some of the neighbouring apartments are given to the troubled youth of the city. One neighbor told me to be on the lookout for an immigrant gang that she feared would come and wreck her place. The elevators are ****ed up in various ways on a regular basis and back in July, there was somebody cutting himself with a knive just beneath my window.

But eventually you develop some ackward form of affection towards the place

From my balcony I once watched an arrestation of some guy. Probably drug crime issues...

I heard that loud noise like "Stop, police!" then some fighting down in the shrubs. One guy escaped right into the quarter, the other guy was arrested.

when I lived in Oregon (in a town of ~1800) about every year me and my family would wake up and look uot our front window and see about 6 cop cars doing a drug bus on the guy across the street

he owuld go away for a little while and than come back

also, a couple times one of our neighbors (in the house to theleft of us) would start chasing her boyfreidn arround with a shotgun

only the enighbor on the right of us didnot have excitement occasionally

It doesn't suck, actually. If there were murders outside my door then I'd worry. None of these incidents have resulted in violence, so they're just plain funny.

I'm beginning to feel very comfortable in my neighbourhood at night.

I just did 12 EM sample problems in 4 hours. Given that we're allowed 3 hours to do 5, I think I'll be okay. On the negative side, my brain is about to explode. Had to stop...

I'm set on a 2 year lease, and am happy with it. After 2 years I'll probably have my girlfriend for a roommate, and given the amount of moolah she's pulling in, I'm sure we can find something.

If the place is nice and is in a decent neighbourhood I might be interested around 2005 (location won't matter that much by then cause I plan to buy a car at some point in the intermediate (1-2 years) future.

How long ago? Prices have apparently gone up significantly in the last few years.

But we're paying 800 for a 2 bedroom (which seems to be decent).

It's long, but I don't mind. If there's a problem I can always sublet it, but I'd rather stay in one place for as long as possible.
