that he froze her body in his backyard freezer. Edwin Rowlette, a 75 year old man, from PHOENIX, Arizona said he wanted to have his wife cryogenically frozen but he didn't have the thousands of dollars it would take. So instead he curled her body into a ball and stuck her into a freezer in his backyard. Apparently one of the man's daughter's friends stumbled across the body in the freezer and called the police.

Authorities found Marcia Lynn Rowlette's body packed in dry ice and insulation and stored along with the bodies of ten dead cats. Rowlette told police he used the cats for research. Police are charging the man with felony charge of crimes against the dead.

I'd laugh but this is to sick.

Before he gets off for anything I want to know what "research" he was planning for the cats, and if he also planned to "research" with the corpse of his dead wife.

There's not much investigation of the situation that can be done without charging him. All that means is he's been booked, but it doesn't mean he'll actually be arraigned, let alone put on trial.

There is an issue regarding how he got possession of the body.

If it turns out he's just an obsessive old git with an emotional problem letting go, it's doubtful that he'd ever be formally arraigned, let alone tried. If there's more to it than that, it'd be nice to find out, though.

OTOH, maybe he practised his cryogenic techique on cats before applying it to his wife.

More importantly, did he murder the cats or did they all die of natural causes?

Regardless of what happened to his wife, I find it hard to believe he would just happen to come across 10 dead cats. I think freezing cats alive would probably fall under animal abuse. (even if he does thaw them out later. )

I think it's rather obvious he froze the cats alive to see if freezing a living being would work. That begs the question, did his wife die naturally, or did he stuff her in there before she died to try and "preserve" her?

The guy supposedly had dozens of live cats in his house. Dead cats wouldn't be hard to come across, or "make" with so many live specimens.
