I would love to play another set in free for all, but, should probably hold back for a while longer. Someone else please pick up the ball and run with it!!

Hope we can have more of this type of game.

I agree that the free for all is a great game. The lack of contrictions may make it a little easy for some people, but since you only play a few turns then just do your best in them and we'll all be impressed by your mastery of Civ. Alternatively, we'll all weigh in with RCC.
Whoever is after La Fayette in Lazy is welcome to play now. If no-one has played by tomorrow then I'll take it for the weekend.

JR it just might be YOUR turn in the Free for all -- I think that you could spin five turns in and out at about 12 minutes per turn.

Re Free-for-All -- eligible players include
La Fayette
duke o' york
Zedd
SG [1]
Elephant, Bloody Monk, myself, and anyone else with a pulse, except --
Grigor, Old n Slow, debeest, and Rasputin.

As for me, I'm due up in the Dirty succession, which I plan to play tonight.

I could play free-for-all, but it would mean denying anyone else the game for the entire weekend, which is hardly sporting and not really free-for-anybody.

Unless anyone else wants to play today, then I shall take Lazy home with me this evening, and should have a report in on Monday.
Am I close to being up in any other games?

I only managed four turns of the Lazy game, but have pressed ahead with the conquest of America, albeit a little too slowly.
I have tomorrow off work so if there are any games that require a bit of a kick up the wherever then I'll have plenty of time to play.

Have time on Monday?

I said that I'll be off work tomorrow, which means that I can't post the file until Wednesday morning GMT.
If the other players are happy to put up with this then I'll play my other 4 turns, but otherwise I've posted the game file in the thread and they can step in to lead us to glory.

I agree -- we have three names listed in the pipeline (Ben Kenobi, Vlad, & Straybow) but all have been quiet as of late.

Duke, I come after them and won't pick up the game to allow them (and you) the chance to play.

Go ahead & play a few more turns.

Right, things have been very very quiet around here lately.

O Sole Mio - SG[1], La Fayette, STYOM, Cyrion

Scorched Earth - Ben Kenobi, SG[1], Julius Brenzaida

Sailing II - La Fayette, duke o' york

Dirty - SG[1], Zedd, debeest, duke o' york

Lazy - -Jrabbit, La Fayette, duke o' york, Old n Slow
(only 4 active players at the moment it seems)

I don't know whether SG is back playing again, but we can sort things out if he is till on sabbatical. Three of these games were right at the bottom of the first page, and need a bit of impetus!

I play "Sailing" tomorrow (didn't know I was up)

BTW I think it would be a very good idea to have a list of supposedly active players in right order on top of each page of a thread dedicated to a succession game (and each player mentioning the name of his supposed successor when finishing to write his log).

Has Ben given up on Civ 2? He seems to be in OT every day, but never visits us any more.

SG, if you have the time, then do you fancy playing a few turns in a lazy fashion? And if Vlad is still playing then please post here to say so - you can fit into the order wherever you want. Sorry for omitting you from the brief order I gave, but I only checked the last couple of pages of the thread and there were only 4 players listed.

Hopefully I can take Sailing this weekend. I should be sorting out an ISP on Saturday, but there is a lot of football on the telly so I'll be spending most of Sunday in the pub.

The Free-for-all game is now history! The victorious Anarchists demolished the hapless AI in 1857 in what could truly be called a saturnalia of gore! The last city to be bribed was defended by a Phalanx...

From approximately one month from start to finish, this format seems to be a promising one, and might be given some consideration should one wish to attempt to revive some of the longer running efforts.

If it had been any other day when the game had finished, then I'd be tempted to start a new one, but since speed is of the essence and those who are not up in any of the other games need somewhere public to show off their skills, then someone start another game!

You have free choice of the settings, and all we ask is that you make it fun for all (and free)(and soon! ).

I was going to do one of my "restart" games, where I basically just wander about and try to pick up as many NONs as possible until a set date, and only then found a city. This would obviously be on the last turn before passing the game on to the next player, and it'd better have 4 specials after all that exploration!
Whoever wants to start the next game is free to use this idea if they'd like - it's not as if I hold any rights over it. But start it soon!

The State of the Nation

As I see it the present position is:

Second Sailing: SG[1], willing to pass if anyone can step in
Scorched Earth: STYOM -> Old n Slow
Lazy: Vlad Antlerkov -> Old n Slow
O Sole Mio: Cyrion playing then DaveV
Dirty: -Jrabbit

Us-Against-Them: anyone bar Grigor, SG[1], Old n Slow or -Jrabbit

According to my notes, JRabbit just played in Lazy, making La Fayette next with the good Duke to follow (Ben Kenobi, Vlad & Straybow have all been skipped and can be inserted back at any time.)

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll complete Scorch tomorrow night.

There is some uncertainty to my schedule over the next few weeks, so my play time might be unpredictable (going away to visit family, will pack civ disks in case gaming opportunities arise...)
