The Real 270ad (42): Orders, Images, Results Increase Your PM Length

I need you guys to actually post ORDERS in this thread before I play the save.

24 hours is all we have. As soon as the save comes in, I need the military guys and any and all of our experts to post orders/sugestions/questions/whatever in this thread.

I'm not all that good with military or worker movements and right now *I'M* the one who's doing them. I need some of you to step up and help me out.

Most recently I moved a stack of units (3 inf, 4 pikes) to the mountains north of Alamo. Was this a good move or not?

We need to make military plans that I can try to carry out for the team. GS hasn't given us any guidance or information, and until they do, we need to show some initiative in this war.

PLEASE post your comments and orders in this thread.

I think you are doing fine Togas. The apathy on this team is pathetic though. I was away for most of Friday and Saturday, sorry about that. I think we need to find a way to get our workers to that Mountain so we can get the Cats up there. It will force the enemies hands at a time when they most have to worry about GS advances in the South. Even with a GA, ND and GoW are not acting very confident and are pussyfooting about. Simular to how Vox made the mistake in not attacking GS directly; I think GoW/ND may be making that same mistake against us. There GA will be over soon, War Weariness will hit them big time and we will gain the advantage over time.

About the apathy of the team I think that knowing the RP-GS common plans would help a lot.

Actually, we don't know what GS is doing, where are their forcesand their movements, why they continue to block our roads, etc.

Personnally, I need a better view of the current and the short term evolution in order to be able to make worth suggestions. The lack of the GS intentions is paralysing my motivation.

But I think that the BigFree plan is the better for the moment. We should do it while awaiting for a well coordinated plan.

I think it was a good move you did Togas. With GS´s attack coming soon, we need to prepare to attack. Attacking at the same time as GS will force ND and GoW to split their forces. As for teh apathy, I am sorry, I ahve been a bit busy these days, and I´ve not been able to get the save before it is played.

Besides, I need to discuss the orders with someone.
Whenever the save arrives, everyone available should go to the rp room and wait.

Suffering from ads?

A copy of the critics I made in the other thread:

Will our troops still be on that mountain by the time we have completed that road, and why are we moving troops on that mountain? Just to occupy the mountain? Look at all those ND forces that are nearby, this is not a good strategy.

With all those ND forces nearby our troops will soon be slauthered and our current number of troops is far too small to occupy the city.

IF we decide to attack, please attack with maximum power so that we can be sure not only to free the city, but also to KEEP it.

Just now ND is waiting for us to invade the city, to then defeat our troops and occupy it for temselves.

Let us wait until we can see that GS really arrives or informs us of their position. Alone we can't do anything useful against those two.

zzzzzzzz...huh? Attack!? Bleeding seabirds, it's about time!

OOC I've been absent and I'm afraid I'll continue to be kind of absent for a while longer. I've started ye olde law studies and it takes a lot of my time. no energy to play when I'm done for the day and I dont want to get too caught up here when I've got more important things to do. BUT I will be checking in once or twice a week.

The main reason I left (except for our tragic defeats and an allconsuming study) was that I felt that I had no real command of my troops.
Ye almighty general overruled everything I wanted to do. I say move this there, I find next turn it is somewhere else. I say stay there, next turn unit gone.
If everything the nobles command is overruled by the central authority then what's the point of the nobles having command?

We all get overruled at some point or the other. I myself have been forgotten once or twice (some certain orders about sending the Pinta down to the spannish coast to prepare for ´´Doolittle Raid´´ operation ...
But that happens, be at turnchats and you´ll be listened, so participation counts.
Ah yeah, Togas, I´d like to know when is this turnchat gonna happen if possible say the hour in GMT too, and remember that brazilians who study can´t play saves at 12:30 PM... they must sleep

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Well then this is prime time to get your voice heard!

My weekly spare time is still about as long as it takes for a politician to lie (next to none), so Spain must continue to rely heavily anyone who shows initiative. So far that has been largely our dear King, amongst all his other concerns.

I know that planning turns in advance during war is difficult. Most times the best you can do is prepare plans if nothing changes. Take a look at the save as soon you can when it arrives, and open the #milOps channel to get GS input and coordination. Hopefully that will give you enough time before we're ready to play the save and/or have to send it on, to make decisions and compose orders.

I'm checking in every day (or so), but usually only for a minute or two. I anxiously await the day that GS and RP turn the tide and start the ND/GoW slaughter! Viva Espana!

Very well, but lets have some debate about the recent change in our military policy: instead of staying with all the troops in Pamplona, Togas ordered the regiment I'm part of and those of soldier Libre and soldier Torquemada to guard on the mountain. Now he has sent additional regiments of infantry.

What is our dear King up to? Does he think we can win from joint armies of the Chinese and Moors in a battle for Salamanca?

Please explain with arguments.

In my chat with NYE, he discussed the massive southern battle that took place last turn that resulted in the destruction of the entire GS first corps: 8 knights, 3 pikes, 8 cats.

Alamo is presently weakly defended. If I had sent more Inf to the mountain we could take the city this turn.

NYE believes that 3 inf + 4 knights won't be enough to take Alamo this turn. I'd like to leave the idea up for discussion, though.

GoW & ND took major losses and have lots of injured units from their battle last turn, however, they have since had a turn to retreat and regroup, and hole up in Alamo before we play the save. We should, however, position ourself to either cut the mountain road or threaten the city (along with GS troops) when the time is right.

Can GS provide us with some screen shots?

I like the idea of trying to retake Alamo/Salmanca. It depends on how may troops GoW has outside of it to make the judgment. The MI's and the 4 Knights might just be enough....

Put an end to popups!

Results from 270 ad

In the shot:
ND main stack = 4 pikes, 8 Ansars (2 = 4/4, 2 = 3/4, 2 = 2/4, 2 = 5/5)
SW Mnt Stack = 3 pikes
NE Mnt Stack = 2 pikes, 1 inf

GoW has 2 captured GS slaves.

military:
Order of the Holy Spirit attacks Alamo... CATAPULT (stolen from GS) fires and damages him. he does 1 damage to a Vet Rider, then dies. Another Vet Rider appears on top of the city at full health.

ATTACK CALLED OFF.

GS lost 4-8 Catapults and they are now in that city. Our Inf did only 1 damage to the Rider. Sending any further Inf would be suicide.

Templars (Inf) SW, W
Inquisition of the Faithful (Inf) SW, W
Holy Martyrs (Inf) SW, W
Brothers of Christ (pike) SW, W

Mountain forces: 5 Inf, 5 Pikes.
Pamplona Defenses: 8 pikes, 1 inf, 4 knights, 8 cats. (in 2 turns we will have 3 additional Pikes in Pamplona)

Madrid Volunteers NW

Pinta SE, SE, S

workers:
El Nino & Aidun Serfs SW, SW, SW (will build road there)

cities: no changes

My plans (until someone gives me some other plans)

1) Our Group of 5 & 5 is now strong enough to treaten Alamo, and the ND roads to the south that provide them with Ivory. We can either jointly attack ND or GoW (coordinate so that we hit first, GS hits 2nd) or we can go after the roads, then follow the mountains towards Vigo and force ND to pull back units to deal with us before we cut off their Gems as well.

2) Having our troops there forces GoW and ND to keep units there to block us or protect against us. It makes it harder for them to focus all of their power against GS. It should give GS a little breathing room to continue their advance. They also allow us to spy on ND/GoW movements.

3) We need our workers to build military roads AND we need another mine by Pamplona. Another mine + growth of Pamplona = 15spt!

4) Eventually we will also build more Inf but none of our cities are at that ideal point. Toledo is a long way off from being productive. Barcelona never was.

Well done Togas, but I warn you to the fact that the cats in El Alamo will bombard our mountain units and damage them before we could strike our attack. I think that all our workers should come immediately to that mountain to do the vital road for our own cats. Otherwise our attack will be worthless.

I am a bit worried by not to have our General giving orders.

Your Majesty, the way you give guidance to our army is magnificent, you are a real supreme commander, but Astrologix is right, those catapults in Salamanca have already cost us an entire regiment of mace-infantry and I hope for them that their souls are now with the Holy Spirit. We have to finish that road asap and I request you to think about sending some additional troops to defend them. It is unlikely that Pamplona will soon be under attack now that we are besieging Salamanca, so we can perhaps move some more forces from Pamplona to the mountain.

I also would like to adress the idea of building a permanent fortification on the mountain after we have build that road. That depends however on the term of the attack. If we are planning to attack just after the road is completed, it will be of much less use then if we plan to stay longer on the mountain. It is then, however, still very useful to defend the city against stacks that gather in the mountains.

[ooc]I will place a copy of this post in the discussionthread I created to further discuss things.[/ooc]
