My ideal job.... Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

This is inspired by something I wrote in the Doctor Who thread about there being a secret organisation dedicated to ensuring that the Doctor's memory was kept pure and not diluted by commercialism and rip-offs.
I thought that would be quite a fun job to do (even if you weren't into Doctor Who, then commanding armies of ninjas to steal offending books and wipe their authors' hard drives would be good), and wondered what you'd like to be when you grow up.

This is supposed to be a bit of fun and not an excuse to list porn films you'd like to appear in or football teams you'd like to play for. Oh, and boss of the world, Microsoft, Fort Knox etc. is a little bit dull. It should be something that you actually have a slight chance of doing one day, if only following a bizarre series of coincidences.

A job that I've fancied for a while is to be on the FA Premier League dubious goals panel. It's a real entity, and people really get paid to sit around and decide whether a certain goal was an own-goal or who scored it if there was any doubt at the time. Unfortunately the goal actually has to count to be referred to the dubious goals panel so no-one could reverse the decisions of a certain Russian linesman in 1966, but you could decide to deny certain players certain goals.

I'd also like to be the person who chooses which particular bunch of oafs are locked away into the Big Brother house, Fame Academy or whatever each series.... There could be some fun to be had there.

As long as we're dreaming, who wants to HAVE to do anything at all? I'd like to be regularly paid a living wage for no reason. Like people on social security, only farther from death and not ignored by the general population.
Failing that, writer.

While most jobs have their ups and downs, as a casting director the downs could be more fun than the ups.

Not overly exciting really Elok.

Why would you not want to work if you wont a lottery or whatever? I'd just keep coming to work every day and try not to let that many people know. If you just moved into your new mansion on the hill then you wouldn't have anyone to talk to all day long.
Well, that depends upon how badly addicted you are to 'poly and whether it actually serves as a substitute for real human interaction in your life.

Tired of ads?

I don't know about that. I've worked over 35 years, retiring to play golf and do a little volunteer work sounds pretty damn good to me.

Why would you want to be required to do anything? If you need to keep busy, there are such things as "hobbies" out there. Not to mention "women" or "good wine." If I were the sort of person who really got his jollies from, say, flipping burgers with a bunch of teenagers, or managing accounts for a telecomm company, I could probably find a way to do that without getting yelled at or having people threaten to fire me. Could probably get better hours too, if I wasn't actually employed there. Lousy money not growing on trees...

Work is work. Even if you do something that you love, when it becomes something you HAVE to do it is no longer fun. Thus, I would like to be independently wealthy artist... Really, I would do nothing but be rich and soak up NEA money, especially since I know nothing about art...

I feel the same, 'though social security would probably be enough. I don't need alot - just enough for food and internet.

I'm not a big gamer (more a pen and paper gamer)...

Yet, even then. If I only had to test one game out a year... Honestly, I know a guy who use to test games. He got so sick of playing video games 10 hours a day that he quit, bought a cabin outside of Modesto, and grows organic carrots...

Nope...

I think that is why I like my job, it changes a lot without me having to switch jobs, I just switch problems.

I am hoping for an interesting research career, as well.

unfortunately, my uni are a bunch of *******s, giving low grades due to harder tests and sillabi, and then taking our grades and the grades of people from other uni at the same level for graduate studies.
