I'll date anybody from any race, but so far I've had the most success with people who are Asian.

This doesn't mean to say that no white or black man could make me happy - and it definitely doesn't mean that I'm happy just because he's Asian. A lot of other cultural, background, historical, character, and even political considerations come into it.

Long and short is, I don't think race is nearly as important as outlook. However, some cultural backgrounds may be more likely to be compatible than others with my own.

If I'm looking for a perfect match, I'd say I'll need a guy who has Asian looks and humility, has a British accent and culture, and is as liberal as the American ideal as far as social thought goes.

It would be great if he plays the piano as well. (Surprisingly, this is not a sexual metaphor.)

Meanwhile, I'll just make do with Mr Boyfriend over here

i will also admit that when i first started dating my current gf, i didn't think too much about these racial politics. it wasn't until about a two years into the relationship, after we'd gotten some funny looks (we're in the south~ go fig), that i started to wonder if i myself had bought into the (white + blond) == attractive rubric that seems to plague a lot of minorities.

now, three more years into the relationship after that point, i'm quite certain that i haven't; especially because i was awfully tempted once to stray -- with another asian.

i suppose that's a common occurence with those in ir relationships? or i am i just odd in this respect?

Che, exactly. Alot of white guys give up on white women. Society, through stuff like the soaps, teach them if they want a thrill, cheat. Also, that love can be evidenced by the price of a diamond or the size of a new car. Since after they get the car and the diamond, they still want a thrill... Anyway, it sickens me. Thank God I'm free of it. My wife is a friend and companion, as well as the love of my life. I'm so glad that the 'war of the sexes' is behind me. Contentious relationships suck. So, yes, so many have given up, many more will.

My father in law we brought over, going through the whole INS process once again. Great guy, he sacrificed everything so his kids got a college education. We're great friends, I honor him.
