Good question, Arrian.
First off, we intend to make better use of our land than CGN and GWT seem to be making of theirs. Their 4 and 5 city spacing may be nice for builders in SP, but our tighter spacing and use of camp cities will lead to us being able to use a higher percentage of tiles. Add our plans to dominate 2/3rds of our land mass, and discussion of using RCP around the FP, and we should be able to pack a lot more power into our lands than they can.
Secondly, our diplomats have quite simply kicked butt. We are and have been on good terms with every civ in the game. After a difficult start with CDG, we ended up on good enough terms that they gifted us several cities and cooperated with our drive into the Middle Ages. Technologically, we have been ahead of CGN who are the largest civ in the game. That has largely been due to the clever wheeling and dealing of our FAM.
Building on our strengths, I am trying to steer things towards a better relationship with CFC and good relations with both GWT and CGN. What I am thinking is that CFC and we could pick an opportune time to 'intervene' on the other continent and cause havoc for the biggest guy over there. However, that may not be necessary since GWT and CGN are at each others throats as we speak.
If it turns out that either CGN or GWT destroy the other, and we are on excellent terms with CFC, then with 2 civs cooperating on tech, we should be able to leave the other continent in the dust. What then remains would be the negotiations with CFC for who would 'win' and under what conditions that would happen. The Space Ship is the best bet, perhaps. It would be an excellent bet if there remains only a single other civ who is stuck in the middle of the Industrial Age.
Perhaps fortunately, due to the nature of Civ and of people, we will have to maintain a strong military. We will have to guard against betrayal by CFC even if they remain freindly. The fact that we will need a large military could provide for other opportunities for victory if the team chooses. Assuming CFC and we maintain close ties and propel each other ahead in tech relative to a single power 'over there', perhaps a joint invasion of the other continent with Tanks could lead to a Domination victory for us.
Having said all of that, it is not likely that I will still be a Consul by the time victory methods are being narrowed down. Provided that the people of Apolyton approve of me serving another term, it will likely be my last. I will have been at this for 4000 years, or more, and a tiger needs a rest once in a while. Just ask Roy what happens when we get cranky.
In all seriousness though, this next term will see us victorious over our enemies, and it will see the laying of the foundations upon which we may build to victory by whatever method the people of Apolyton choose. After those tasks are done, it may well be high time to allow for renewal of leadership and for me to slip away into retirement.
