I looked at the post from the last turn. We have one worker SE of Friendship City and I plan on bringing the worker to the north down next to Friendship city. The best route for them will be to go between Friendship city and Las Vegas. I would ask them to avoid our road so as not to impede our units if we need to move anything through there. Comments?

We have made deals with both Tab and MAST for Engineering. We should sell it to them. We have not traded Mono to anyone yet, but Tab will need to it research Chivalry.

Engineering is a 36 point tech. We should try to get 360 gold for it. We should also try to see if we can sell it to the civs on the other continent, before Tab or LL do.

The question is what does LL research? We are going for Theo (albeit at a very slow rate). I assume Tab is going for Chivalry (after we trade Mono to them) and MAST is going for Invention. That doesn't leave anything for LL or the other civs to research. LL may want to go for Chivalry themselves. I have a suspicion that Tab will not trade it to them. Anything LL researches will be doubling of another civs research.

Wow! That's a lot of gold.

I know it's less than the 360g we were asking for each, but it's still quite a good bargain as the tech's value has gone down with everyone else having it and easily selling it if we don't. Let's do the trade. Eng + Mono for 556g AND a no-trade of course.

I'll let him know that we think Tab are going for Invention and that we'll trade with whoever gets it first, as we have not yet made a trade deal with Tab for it (but it's more likely that Tab will beat them to it anyhow)

I think the offer is a bit light. Even discounting from our usual price of 720 gold I think we should try to get at least 600. Unless they think they can get a better deal someplace else, it would cost them a LOT more than that to research both. We can send them the techs and give them a few turns to send the rest of the gold if they need time to generate it.

I think they just realized they are behind on tech. They are probably a bit scared thinking that both MAST and Tab could reach Chiv well before they do unless they buy these techs.

Tech values deflate as more and more teams get them. I also wouldn't be surprised if LL got contact (thru Tab) with the 3 civs overseas, who would be more than happy to sell them these techs on the cheap.

Bottom line, I'd like us to be the ones to make these sorts of sales. LL isn't going to beat anyone to Chiv or Invention, so they'll need to continue to buy tech. I'd like us to be their regular supplier.

Not sure about tech. Maybe if we gave them a tech for 40 turns of dyes it might be worth it, but such a long term deal will fall through if Tabemono and LL go to war during that time.

I'd rather give gold than tech. What do you guys think?

Hmmmm.

I actually kind of like the idea of giving a tech, but there's a problem in that if we give them Feudalism that'll help them against Tabemono (though the longer the war goes the better ).

Perhaps we can ask for 20 turns of dyes and gold for Feudalism instead?

The thing is that we won't be able to always turn the lux slider down to 0 - there will be times when we have cities that are size 6+ and we'll have no choice but to use it. So dyes will only benefit us about half the time. They'll get Feudalism from somewhere else eventually, so if we can get something from them for it now, then that will help us out.

I don't fully understand...

Does he want Feudalism for only the 120 gold because he can't offer us the dyes now?

Tell him that each deal would be seperate since the game only allows for deals lasting exactly 20 turns.

We could, for instance, sell them Invention for 200 gold and the "future" promise to gift us dyes for 20 more turns when the previous deal ends. Or we could ask for "collateral" in the form of gold or gpt so that we can later trade that back to them for the dyes after the current deal expires. That way we cover our backsides and not just relying on them to behave honorably or in the event that something comes up and they can't offer us dyes we then have the gold instead.

I think he sent the gold and the dyes and wants additional deals for those other techs (in the form of more gold and an extension on the Dyes trade).

Though I'm not sure.

If we get anything this turn I'll accept and send back Feudalism. Or just send back Feudalism accepted (assuming that he sent 120g and Dyes).
