I think they are cloning him... What are we going to do in 100 years when Castro is like 180 y.o. and still walking around?... Someone should do a spoof of Weekend at Bernies (as if it would be a spoof), and have Castro... uh, nevermind.

What have the Cubans ever done to you anyway to deserve such hate?

I bet lifting your silly little embargo would actually make Cuba capitalist quicker too...

Not to mention the US is defying UN resolutions in keeping up the embargo.

Let's invade the US!

No, to both inquiries. So ram it!

Actually, a lot of younger Cubanos in Miami are more concerned with flashing their gold chains and driving their Beemer convertibles like hell in the Little Havana district, parking on the sidewalks and pretending to be little badasses.

If Cubans in Miami are so hot to oust Castro, let 'em. The US didn't give a rat's ass about Cubans hot to oust that murdering little ****er Batista - mostly because Batista would sell off any Cuban asset to US companies as long as he and his wife each got 10% of the action.

So if the US didn't give a **** then, why should I give a **** now?

45 years of no alternate political parties allowed, government monopoly on news and information, government monopoly on education, of course the people "love" him - they've been trained to.

And Fidelito might "win" in a figurehead sense, but given real alternatives (you don't see the rest of Latinamerica and the Caribbean rushing to embrace Castroite socialism), Fidelito's party and Raul and the whole system of government would go down in flames.

So list them and their "crimes"

Or is whatever is done in the name of "revolution" and "communism" right?

That there were some murderous scumbags who deserved a date in front of a wall is obvious.

That all, or even a majority, of "judicial" (to the extent you could dignify it with the name) or extrajudicial killings that took place before, during and after the revolution were limited to the above mentioned murderous scumbags is far from obvious.

You want to make it easier for dissident Cubans to reach the US? Does anyone here remember the boat people fiasco a couple of decades back? God knows, this time he'll probably pack the boats with al-Queda wannabes with phony papers.

"Were is gepap"?

Gainfully employed and exploited by the Council of the City of New York, that is where.

Oh, and regardless of the vicious lies kropotkin is spreading, I am not currently in a Miami prison....

This "announcement" is , well, meaningless. Make it easier for dissidents to leave? Anyone here think castro has a problem with that? As for making it harder for Americans to travel there..first, anyone who wants will still make it through Mexico, and the Cubans don;t stamp passports, so maybe it will deter a small amount of people. All in all, a vote-pandering stunt.

As for Castro..the average Cuban probalby does not love him..but most of them have lived their entire lives under him, and they would NOT back a coup or so: the communist party still does have substantial (htough not majority) support. When he dies, or decides to give up power due to old age (the former is more likely, but the later could always happen), i am sure there will be a lot of grief outpouring in cuba, if only becuase he has been a symbol of the country for 40 years. I don;t think communist party rule will outlast him though. Elections will have to follow.

It's good to see that Bush, Powell, and co. are outlining some ideas for what to do when Castro's gone -- hopefully they've learned their lessons (re: not planning for the aftermath) from Iraq.

However, it's tiresome to see them working the same half-century-old methods of trying to remove Castro from power. All the embargos and travel restrictions have done is to give Fidel even more authority with the Cubans, who are subject to further poverty and lack of improvements in quality of life.

Progress is a fatal enemy of communism and dictatorships. Sure, we can let Cuba remain in its never-ending 1950s lifestyle, or we can let our culture and our technology change Cuba and present itself as a threat to Castro.

If Cuba allowed "free" elections the US would give tons of mony to the rightist parties and let the Cuban-American terrorists beat up Castro supporters, basically Contra episode 2.

The only reason there are travel restrictions is that the corporate elite don't want people discovering that the propaganda they are feeding people is BS. Most of those "political dissidents" are probably conected to the Cuban-American terrorists in Miami.
