my policy towards cuba would be to let any cuban that gets outside cuba's waters and is found by us(or gets to american shores). asylum. I'll take the whole country if need be. leave castro sitting on a beach by himself commanding a palm tree.

I find this interesting too. Commies like to say that prior examples have betrayed "true" communism. However, they will defend every communist country to the bitter end. |
Something's better than nothing when you can't have everything. Castro is far better that what came before and very likely far better than what will come after. Compared with Purto Rico, Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, Cuba is quite nice. But of course, no one talks about those shitty countries because they're capitalist.
Hell, Jamaica's so poor you can't even leave the tourist areas or you'll be kidnapped, robbed, raped (if a woman) and killed. And Haiti, ****, Haiti's a basket case. There are almost as many Haitans in the U.S. as Cubans. Where's the great handwringing concern about Haiti? Unlike the claims about Cuba, there is actual documented proof of the Domincan Republic using (Hatian) slave labor on its plantations.
But you don't wat to hear all that becuase it would mess with your nice little ideology.

A hypothetical question for you all.
Castro announces Cuba will hold free elections. Everyone can vote and anyone can run. A spirited debate starts, and parties are formed. UN inspectors are invited in--the polls are passed by them, the voters can pick any candidate without threat or coercion.
How many of you would actually believe it? Or would you just pass it off as a show without real substance of freedom?
