I'm working on an idea for a scenario based on 1920's Germany. It will start in 1919 and end at 1933.
Rather than playing a civilization, players would take on the roles of the political parties of the time (N.S.D.A.P., Communist Party, Social Democrat, etc).
It's just a concept for the moment, but I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how something like this could be pulled off.

Some very good ideas here.
I particulary like the idea of making it a non-military based scenario, with the use of diplomats or "Party Deligates". Earning money for the party therefore is important, like it would have been in real life.

Curtsibling - perhaps one of the civilization slots could be made "The German Army".
http://eis.bris.ac.uk/~gemaa/21005/parties.html This webpage has some information on the principle political parties of the time.
Perhaps we could look into a possible units show case for this? Also, is anyone interested in developing this idea into an actual project?

Is there a good large map of Germany to be found then? So far the only one I found includes too much of the rest of Europe.

Another thought about the units: a scenario of this era would not be complete without the SA brownshirt bullyboys and their ilk; maybe you could make them too weak to take cities but able to fight it out in the country. |
Units such as the SA/SS/Freikorps/Red Army would be for battling one another and attacking diplomats - they could also be used to install 'martial law' to keep people happy.

Members of the Nazi party originally had no uniforms... perhaps later on when you research something like 'Paramilitary' for example, your former 'regular' party members become uniformed members of the SA, and are more powerfull since they are more organised and orderly.
Perhaps then we could develop the scenario so the player builds up the party from nothing, from a small group in Munich to a major political force (The same with the Communist Party and the other 'extremist' parties that want to win power in Germany).

That's very annoying.
Hmm... I'm sure we can work around this though, after all this is early days.
BTW - Does anyone have any Weimar era sprites/graphics? Prefrebly Captain Nemoesque ones.

You could alsom ake a Reichstag unit that when destroyed yields a ton of money.
