I concur with MrFun, being gay in not the only (or even most important) aspect of my selfworth...but it is the part of me that's being treated as a "second-class" citizen in the U.S. and because of this, I will not hide my sexual orientation as a shameful disposition, but rather one that I'm proud of.

Of course, since moving to San Francisco from North Carolina, my "gay pride" has become a bigger part of my life. After all, I'm fighting for my right to marry the man I love (but that's a different topic in itself).

They aren't allowed to marry the people they love (and all the benfits and legal relations that come with this). In some states (like mine) they aren't allowed to adopt children. They are the number one target of hate crimes in the U.S. In many places they can be denied jobs for their sexuality.

Thank goodness California has a law in place against this...but even in California - it's just not enough. I want, nay, I demand equal rights covering all aspects of living in America.

HUH?? Why the hell can you not be a heterosexual if you do not believe that heterosexuality is superior?? That makes no sense.

A homosexual who constantly berates heterosexuals is just as bad, in my opinion. Or, he has no healthier way to express his resentment of societal homophobia/heterosexism.
