LOSING FAITH By Morton Monk December 26th, 1998 note: This is The Column, a part of Apolyton where mainly Markos and Dan write whatever we want :). Well, not just the two of us. The Column is open to everyone. If you feel like writing submit your article to civ2@gamestats.com
I don't know why I'm offering this. Maybe because Civ2 was a great game, or maybe just because I'm the nicest guy on Earth. But anyway, I have decided to give Microprose a last chance. This is what I want you to do, before I again can give you my hard earned money.
1) I want you to be pretty active on the Apolyton forums and interact with your customers. I want to be sure that my suggestion for a new Civ game can be taken into consideration. I want an online prescense except for a site that only updates when a new expansion is ready. To say it short: I demand you go and remain public. Is the sequel Test of Time? Please explain to me what exactly the point is in taking the same ol' Civ2, add a few features, and selling it as TOT, a "new" game. Note that the reason MGE sells is because there are no others. But when TOT comes out, it will be crushed by new games like Alpha Centauri and Civ: CTP. Where is Civ3? Will there ever be a Civ3? Please reply.
