STEFU: Faces of Apolyton #7, 19/Mar/2002

Jon Miller: How frequently do you visit areas other than Apolyton Community and O[ff] T[opic forums]?
Stefu: Not very. I check S[tories] & D[iplomacy] to see how ADCT Finals game goes on, and occasionally visit "CivIII-General" to see if there's anything interesting. Usually, there isn't. And as for site outside of forums... hoo boy, I actually forgot there was a front page until about 2 weeks or so, when I accidentally visited it.

Jon Miller: What level do you/did you play CivII/CivIII/SMAC on?
Stefu: CivII, Emperor. CivIII, Prince (haven't played it that much.) SMAC, the... the... the second most difficult.

Jon Miller: Would you wish to be a moderator?
Stefu: Well, I like pretending I'd like to be a moderator, but I actually wouldn't. I'd just misuse my power horribly and be kicked out. Still, make me a moderator, won't you pleeeeeease make me a moderator?

Korn469: Do you take part in many of the political discussions in the O[ff] T[opic] forum? How would you describe your political leanings?
Stefu: Hm! Not so much anymore. Did so earlier, but they left a bad taste in my mouth, worse taste than working as a fluffer and worse taste than forcing a jokey, sex-related line to a sentence to make all of the text humoristic in a vain attempt to make people laugh. And even worse than self-flagellation for humoristic porpoises. Now, I participate if I can rip off a good humor-filled rant or insightful humor-filled one-liner about the topic.

My political leanings are... cynical. Many governmental programs just can't help but seem like buying votes with other people's money, and all that lefty ranting about eeeevil America occasionally borders on racism – what with all that "Americans are stupid, evil, fat warmongers" crap. On the other hand, free market isn't a God to be blindly trusted, and God isn't free market to be blindly trusted. I'd describe myself as socially mostly liberal and fiscally somewhat conservative. In next Finnish election I'll be allowed to vote if they don't find out about my extensive criminal record, so I'll most likely vote for National Coalition, our beloved conservative party, or Social Democrats, our beloved moderate-left party. Not much of a difference between them, anyhow, and I mean it from the bottom of my bottomless pit. And from bottom of heart, too. It all depends on finding a suitable candidate.

If I was American, I'd vote for Democrats. Naturally. Republicans are, from Euro perspective, just too wackily in flying monkey right. Besides, I think the sex maniac made a better president than the cute little chimpanzee.

Korn469: Do you know how the whole banana thing got started? Any insight into this would help.
Stefu: Well, one day God needed a tasty snack, so he created monkeys.

Apolyton banana thing got started with a poll which asked whether people wanted more nonsensical options in polls. Amongst choices were "Banana", "MikeH", and "I have weasels in my trousers." If I was to choose, I'd go with weasels. Not in trousers, since that's job better left to ferrets, but as nonsensical option. O' well.

Korn469: If you were a mod for a day what would you do?
Stefu: I'd do like David Rice Atchinson and sleep through my moderatorhood. Dig my obscure historical reference. If you get it, you can feel intellectually superior to other people, and then be ashamed of your geekdom.

Korn469: Your favorite topic in the O[ff] T[opic]?
Stefu: Ohh, hard cookie to bite, this one. I'll have to say that currently, it's any topic about non-Americans getting killed in Afghanistan. Non-Americans getting killed isn't funny, of course, it is itchy, but what's funny is inevitable coming of Wiglaughable. Yes, he comes repeatedly at his computer screen when spouting his idiocies, I'm sure of it. I'm sure of it.
