Discussion with Master Zen of Latin Lover re the possibility of a trade for Construction with them - Kloreep and I figured we should at least find out what they would want for it and then see what Sunshine would want for it , and decide either between the two civs or neither...
quote: Session Start: Mon Jan 19 20:54:48 2004
Session Ident: #feast
* Now talking in #feast
* Kloreep sets mode: +o Sharpe
* Kloreep sets mode: +is
-apolyton.net:@#feast- Kloreep invited MasterZen into channel
#feast.
* MasterZen has joined #feast
[MasterZen] so, what's on the menu?
[Kloreep] Hi
[Sharpe] Hi
* Kloreep sets mode: +o MasterZen
[Kloreep] opping is the first course
[Sharpe] You had mentioned about how you are doing construction
[Sharpe] as your current research project
[MasterZen] yes
[Sharpe] We are wondering if we can possibly work out a trade
for it - or at least see what you would want for it
[Sharpe] We have Literature done now
[MasterZen] do you know the costs for each?
[Sharpe] Lit is 10 tech points, Construction is 20 IIRC
[Sharpe] admittedly not exactly close in terms of tech points
[MasterZen] hmmm, if I am not mistaken we only need Const. and
Lit to pass to the next era
[Kloreep] I don't think Lit is required for era advancement
[MasterZen] I think you are right
[Sharpe] neither of the government techs are needed to advance
too
[MasterZen] how much is Chivalry?
[Sharpe] let me check
[Sharpe] Chivalry is 32 tech points
[Sharpe] on this sort of map of course
[Sharpe] Feudalism is 32 as well and Engineering is 36
[MasterZen] damn, the only thing I see which can compensate is $$
[Sharpe] hmm, gold plus perhaps some IOUs perhaps
[Sharpe] question would be how much
[MasterZen] perhaps we can work on a 32 cost tech, you guys do Engineering, that would make you owe us only 6
tech points
[Sharpe] LL still owes us 1 tech point IIRC right?
[MasterZen] which can be compensated with $$ or another IOU
[MasterZen] I don't remember but I believe so
[MasterZen] make that 5 then
[Sharpe] it would sound like a possibility
[Sharpe] just going to check for certain re that 1 tech point
* Kloreep has quit IRC (Killed (NickServ (Nick kill enforced)))
[Sharpe] yeah , the Currency trade reduced the IOU to us from 2 tech points down to 1 left
-apolyton.net:@#feast- Sharpe invited Kloreep into channel #feast.
* Kloreep has joined #feast
[Sharpe] just confirmed that there is still 1 tech point owing to Tabemono btw
[Kloreep] k
* Sharpe sets mode: +o Kloreep
[Sharpe] hmm, the 3 initial techs in the middle ages are Monotheism (36 pts) , Feudalism (32 pts) and
Engineering (36 pts)
[Sharpe] sorry Kloreep and I just chatting and figuring things out
[MasterZen] well, I shall post this idea in our forum, sounds good IMO, let's see what they think
[Sharpe] would you want gold instead of IOUs or a combination of IOUs and gold?
[Sharpe] or only IOUs?
[MasterZen] we'll have to debate that
[Sharpe] yeah
[Sharpe] usually it is 15-20 gold per tech point right?
[Sharpe] at least in our trades so far it has been that way
[MasterZen] I'll have to check the equations but IIRC it's
something along those lines
[Sharpe] k
[Sharpe] brb
* Kloreep is now known as Kloreep|XCOM
[Sharpe] hmm, we can really say that Kloreep has been taking
over by aliens...
[Sharpe] taken over
[Sharpe] by playing XCOM
[Sharpe] will post this idea in our forum too |
Sounds like a trade proposal of the following:
LL trades: Feudalism (32pts) + Construction (20pts)
Tabemono trades: either Engineering or Monotheism (both 36 pts) plus Literature (10 pts) plus net 5 tech pts (6 minus the 1 point that LL still owes us from an earlier trade) or a combination of gold and IOU tech pts or only gold alone - situation to be discussed in both forums.
Nothing has been agreed upon yet for certain - in my eyes this is only a proposal... we can always back out of it by not agreeing with the IOU/gold allotment (one reason we didn't agree on that).

To MZ and WIA

I've been asked to help out a little on the diplomatic front between our nations. Kloreep is a bit busy it seems these days.
I understand that you guys are researching Engineering, correct?
I come before you now to offer up the following trade: Literature + Feudalism in exchange for your Engineering. I believe I would be able to convince the team that it would be best for us to send Lit now as well, instead of later, and trusting your impecible record that you will follow through with the Engineering.
What say you, do we have a deal?

Greetings. We are in very worried about the troop movements in the borders of our countries. Could you clarify your intentions to us? We are open to future agreements that allow assure stability in the zone. By our part we must present excuses to step on adjacent tiles to your border a few turn past, and unfortunately we must excuse ourselves again because a warrior is near again. This behaviour is because a member has the hateful habit to open the turn, move a pair of warriors and to report what he sees, forcing us to repeat what he has done. The member already has been reprimanded and I hope that does not happen again.
MrWIA has reported about a PM sent by you:

At the moment we are not investigating anything and during several turns we are not going to begin any investigation but we could coordinate with you in a future. If you could wait for that time we could make this agreement, or other.
Due to MZ's multiple duties I assume the foreign relationships of the LL team, please excuse (and enjoy) my poor english

What did they see? Did I miss something, I thought everything was out of their sight so far unless they moved a settler stack towards my blocking sight.

Proposed reply:
quote: Niessuh,
I must profess a slight amount of confusion as to what you are meaning reguarding the troop movements. For I can find nowhere that we have violated your border.
Look, I don't have the time nor will I put forward the effort to dance around the subject here. You can ask MZ if you want, I just don't care much for skirting the issue.
Here you are, playing as Rome. It is no secret that you now have Legions. It is also no secret, and by your own admission, you are hording gold. Now add in the fact that you have begun to settle a little uncomfortably close to our own border, and the fact that communications have been slow to non existant between us. Don't think it hasn't escaped our attention that you have always seemed to be 'researching' what Sunshine is, and it all begins to smell awefully fishy. It's entirely possible that Sunshine has been doing your research the entire game and you've been hording gold for a LONG time.
Let's not kid anyone, it all looks like you are setting up a launching point for invasion. Be it before feudalism with legions or later with medeival infantry as the primary attacker makes little difference. Do we have troops in the area, then? You're damn right we do. Are we preparing an attack? RIIIGHT. Attacking fortified legions with horse and sword. Come now, we are not foolish.
Now then, perhaps this is all just due to the fact that true relations between our teams have never properly been set up, who knows.
We are more than happy to discuss any form of deals with you, border arrangements, to non-aggression, and are even open to the possibility of a full fledged alliance, but at this point, our intentions are to defend against the attack that seems surely comming.

Hello....

I would LIKE to respond now with the following:
Niessuh,
Tabemono agrees to stay at least one tile from your territory for now, but are concerned with the growing nature OF that border.
We would like to therefore set up a border arrangement that is tied to the NAP. This will go a long way to easing the anxiety of my own team and will hopefully plant the foundations for a long lasting friendship between our two nations.
From here, we can either divulge what site we want (my blocking site) or not, I'll leave that to the team.
PERSONALLY, I would put it in, but then, I'm more direct of a diplomat than some of you.
By putting it in, we clear the air, and keep forward this direct line of diplomacy that I find to be FAR more agreeable than puttering around the issue. Not that I ever got frustrated with teams for DOING that... *cough* GS *cough*
By NOT mentioning it, though, we move our settler ever closer, perhaps making it too late to become part of the border deal...
