The only thing I have read about Spear is his autobiography. Hard to tell how much is truth and how much is damage controll. I must say he presents convincing arguments as to his morality and such. Things such as his refusal to pass on Hitler's order to ravage western Germany as the Allies approached.

Nobody followed those orders. Hitler, who by 1945 was very insane, ordered the Germans to raze everything in Germany, so the Allies wouldn't take anything when it was conquered. Needless to say, that order was not carried out. That refusal was commonsense, not morality.

Actually Goingonit,

I would argure that the mere presence of the fact that you consider this 'commonsense' shows a morality in and of itself. If he had the 'commonsense' as you call it, to not carry out orders resulting in possible execution at the hands of the more fanatical Nazis, this I would argue shows a degree of morality indeed.

Webster's Dictionary entry for 'morality':
quote:
1. A moral discourse, statement or lesson.
2. A doctorine or system of moral conduct.
3.Conformity to ideals of right human conduct.

Therefore I would offer to you that Speer's supposed 'commonsense' is not something we all have. You and I may have it...leading to you thinking that the sense is 'common'. But in the morally preverse world of the fascist state
where the masses are driven by ludicrous propaganda and led to believe that this preversion is 'right' and 'correct', Speer's refusal to participate in Hitler's dragging down of the nation shows that he saw the light, saw what we all believe is 'right human conduct'... and made the moral decision not to comply, but rather to take a stance on what he felt was right.

Ok, Scenario League is NOT a debate forum, you wanna debate Hitler and morality, do it in the OT, not here.

Case Closed.

God I love saying that.

Okay... back on focus... Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

A quick German lesson:

1. Plural of Soldat is Soldaten?

2. Plural of Aufklarer is Aufklaren?

These are guesses on my part, just want to make sure.

That would be Aufklärer and plural Aufklärers (spell the "ä" as "ae" if you wish). You´re right about the Soldat.

So here it is: Anything relating to Stalingrad.
Map of the city itself, surrounding areas, military positions etc. The maps I have are very basic and have a timeline of occupation, but I could use whatever you guru's can come up with.

Dunno if someone has already posted this link (I didn't feel like to read the whole thread), but I will post it anyway as I think these are some of the maps you're looking for:
