Nukes and such should be banned. Inevitably, it will lead to the death of the thread. This is not the old World 1999. The posters lack enough restraint to avoid the use of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.

OOC: Unfortunately, I have to concur with Scott. Some of the posters these days wouldn't think twice about nuking their neighbor, we simply don't have the same mantality as we did in the old thread.

OOC: What Bill did was totally unrealasitic- It shows a need for a moderator. If Bill is unwilling to reserve what the has done- I will have to start annexing former CIS States by election.
Anyway how about we vote on some things:
1. Should Nuclear weapons be allowed?
2. Should Biological Weapons be allowed?
3. Should Chemical Weapons be allowed?
4. Should semi-skiled Battle-Posts be required? (Should we make it so the battle posts must at least be semi-good?)
5. Should we have a moderator? (If we vote to have a mod, we can then vote who to have as mod, and then have a runoff between the top two vote getters unless someone wins 51% of the vote.)

Russia Launches Operation Link Cut!
In attempt to break off the Chechens supply route from Georgia, the Russians launched a Massive bombing campaign, dropping the equivalent of a Hiroshima bomb in convential bombs on the few Chechen controlled territory, especially concentrating on the far south, killing an estimated 436 Chechen rebels. After this had happened, Russian Helicopeters moved into the south near the Georgian border, and began to disrupt the supply route from Georgia(Not Georgia the American States, but Georgia the country in the Caucasus). Later, the Russians dropped in soldier to permanently cut it. The Checens attakced vigorusly and hit the Russian hard, inflicting heavy casulties. However, Russia could affor casulties, the Chechens couldn't. Realizing this, the Russians continued to move in troops. Casulties were taken, 528 Chechens and 1,512 Russians died in the combat before the Chechens gave up. In the end, Operation Link Cut bled the Chechens severly, and the supply line from Georgia is now held by Russian troops.
Russia, Germany, China sign alliance!
President Vladimir Putin today was pleased to announce that the Great nations of Russia, China, and Germany have agreed to an alliance.
234 traiors caught!
Russian undercover agents have identified 234 traitors who sold weapons to the Chechens. They shall be spedning the rest of their lives in an Artic Gulag.
Elite Russian Guard to be created!
President Vladimir Putin today announced that Russia will be creating an elite Russian guard, to be comprised of the troops who fought the best in the Chechen war. They will be an elite, veteran force for the Russians.

Today, the United Baltic States Prime Minister Arvydas Sabonis made an announcement detailing the progress that the UBS has made in recent weeks. He said that the plan of tax breaks and finacnial aid for small companies in the electronics and computer industries has been quite successful, and that Vilinius has begun to become a center for the computer industry in the UBS. It is already home to numerous hardware, software, and "dot-com" companies.
Utilizing the already strong nationalism and patriotism in the UBS, Sabonis has laid plans for a program encouraging enrollment in the UBS military. THose who join the military will receive an excellent education along with their military training. This has proved highly attractive to many in the UBS's agricultural areas, where it is difficult to earn enough money for a decent college education.
Parliament voted in favor of a program increasing the UBS's military industrial capacity, which mainly includes the building of several sites for the consrtuction of airplanes, tanks, and ships. These will be distributed throughout the UBS territory.
The UBS foreign ministry announces that a diplomat will be sent to a meeting in Warsaw to confer with the Slav Confederation's government. The foreign minister also announced that he wished to open diplomatic negotiations with Germany, Russia, and China, including possible treaties.

Perhaps you should also look at the rampant corruption in the so called "Republic of China". You simply wish to turn a blind eye to spite us, we wonder why.

FALL OF CHECHNYA!
Gen. Mushkaz Hashivetz, leader of the Chechnyan resistance, spit it into the cold, bitter wind moving through the Caucasus mountains. His forces had fought valiently, but now he had less than 500 men, and Russian conquest seemed only a matter of time... He still had one option left though.....
Gen. Hashivetz led all his remaining troops into a mountain valley. It was an ambush. Russians, informed prior to the attack, came in by suprise. There was no escape, the Chechens were sorrunded. The remaining Chechen Guerillas, died and Hashivetz stood alone. A Russian officer stepped forward, and handed Gen. Hashivetz a piece of paper. It was a check for $500,000 American. Gen. Hashivetz had betrayed his men, and Chechnya, having run out of guerillas, was a Russian province once more.

A small explosion rocked an automobile plant. This plant has been taken offline for couple of months. There is no news that says what cause the explosion but the main speculation is that a bomb was set off. More news when we get it.

A couple of days later in the US Capitol, a man was sitting nervously looking at his notes. The man was thinking of a way to get funding for his project. Then a secatary came and said, "Mr. Thales Koffed, the congress is ready to hear your proposal." Mr. Koffed then composed himself, got up, and went through the double doors. He walk down an aisle have congressional members look at him and whisper at each other. This was an unsettling for Mr. Thale Koffed because he was not used to the environment of this area. He was more inclined research than public talking, but he could not afford a lobbist. Finally he came down to the microphone and started his speech.
"Dear congresspeople,
There is a matter upmost importance to talk to you about. This is that terrorist groups are changing their emphasis from governmental to industrial targets. We have already seen this in the automotive plant bombing in Flint, Michigan. Now you would say that there was no bombing in Flint, Michigan, but I have been there. I saw the destruction and the only thing that could cause it was a bomb. This is way my organization will need funding so that we can find out where these terrorists will hit next. Also we have to figure out which cities will be in danger if the terrorist gets nuclear weapons."
Mr. Koffed then answer questions that people in congress might have.

President Sigma of Nigeria today asked the London and Paris Lending Clubs for debt relief. Nigeria owes the Paris Club $21 Billion and the London Club around $10 billion.
Nigeria is holding auditions to replace its obsolete fleet of Mig-21s. Candidates include the Mirage 2000, F-16, and Mig 29.
The more economic(ie cheapest) will recieve the order.
Nigeria is going along with Opec's plan to cut oil production 10% to generate greater revenues. Nigeria is the worlds sixth largest oil exporter.

Coup d'etat in Argentina
Last week, a socialist group rose in arms with the support of the Fuerzas Armadas (including Navy and Air Force) against President Fernando de la Rua. The leader of the rebels, Simón Nestor, adressed the Argentine people two days later, when he had already taken control of the government.

President Nestor took a series of measures which will enable Argentina to repay it's Foreign Debt in five years time, and will show an increase in national industry in around 250% for the first year. Due to the Government controlling the resources, an adequate import and export regulation can be set up, thus greatly increasing prosperity of the PyMEs (small and medium firms).

After fleeing from Buenos Aires with the legitimate president, Fernando de la Rua, and his cabinet, Almirante Dominguez fled to the Brazilian embassy, where he has requested political asylum.
Already, the Rebel forces are hunkering down around it to prevent Dominguez from escaping.
He gave a press conference there.
Nations of the world... Yet again, the land troops show themselves as a money-grabbing, power-thirsty cancer to our nation.
Yet again do they seize power for themselves. The armed forces seek only private wealth, and no benefit to the society will happen. We must all remember previous years and remember the "Operativo Condor", in which many Latin Americans were tortured and killed... The Armed forces seek no good and these traitors have nailed down the loyal party and have imprisoned them. The seditious rebels are destroying all that is left of the so much prized political stability of Argentina.
Yet again, I, in the name of the true and only legitimate president of the argentinos, Fernando de la Rua, call upon all the nation in the world to demand the removal of the new dictator, Simon Nestor, is more corrupt, but by ideas... ideas that the people support him! I say he is wrong! I say that the military regimes MUST be ended! I say that you return power back to the legitimate president! THE PEOPLE DON'T WANT YOU!
He has shown further signs of oppression by making up a new constitution for his own evil needs... He is the new cancer that Argentina must rid itself of but it can't alone...

The speech was televised on all major channels and a peace march was immediatelly organised by the Fundacion H.I.J.O.S., made up of children of "disappeared" from the last military government. When they reached Plaza de Mayo, they were met by a wall of Gendarmes. Peacefully, they remained in their place, but someone shouted "Fuera Nestor!" (Out with Nestor!) and, the armymen opened fire on the defeseless crowd... Over 700 civilians have been killed...
Immediatelly, the CGT (Congreso General de los Trabajadores) has organised a general strike that will remain "till Nestor leaves office" spokesman Moyano said.
To BRAZIL:
I, Almirante Dominguez, in the name of Fernando de la Rua and his cabinet, seek political asylum in your country.
We also ask you to please sympathise with our plight, and help us re-establish democracy in our country.
To ALL NATIONS:
Argentina has been yet again struck by a disease well known to her people: Military Government. The president asks you for help to throw out the so called "president" Nestor and to re-establish democracy. Please do not recognise his government, but side with truth, justice and, most importantly, DEMOCRACY.

COUP IN ARGENTINA
Yesterday in Buenos Aires, the capital of the Argentine Republic a violent coup fostered by an individual named Simňn Nestor. The civilian government of Fernando De la Rua was forced to flee to Brazil for safety. President Faria has given no response so far. However authorities in the Congresso Nacional have dismissed reports that 700 civilians were killed by Argentine soldiers.
ARGENTINES REQUEST AMNESTY
The escaped Argentines represented by Almirante Dominguez has lodged an official request with the Brazilian government requesting amnesty. Seeings that Argentina is the third largest economic power in South America and the refugees are the rightful government, the Congresso Nacional has granted their request.
NEW ENVIROMENTAL BILL BEING PUSHED
A new series of enviromental acts are being pushed through the Congresso Nacional, backed by President Faria. The acts would begin to protect what is left of the rainforest, replantation of the rainforest, clearing of squatters, and limitations on cattle ranchers. For years the government has neglected to protect the rainforest which holds most of the plant and animalife on earth including many possible cures for diseases. These new acts are expected to take time but President Faria has hailed them as a new age of enviromental protection and has even encouraged the Indonesian government to put similar laws in place.
To Argentina - We are willing to sign a non-aggression pact with your new government, but be warned that if you take any hostile action toward the world or your populous you shall suffer.

We are currently unable to sell you the island of Greenland. The local inhabitants have voted to remain with Germany. We may be able to sell you the island at some point in the future.

I am leaving for vacation in Florida. I will not be able to post until probably next Tuesday. Germany is therefore frozen. Tanks are still being built and reforms are still occuring. Should something drastic occur, Black Dragon and Mao can act for Germany.

Empire of Vietnam Established
Following the collapse of the communist government and the public execution of Tran Duc Luong, Nguyen Trinh, relative of the former emperor Bao Dai, re-established the Nguyen dynasty of Vietnam. However, most of the government is still in anarchy, and Communist guerrillas still fight in the central hills.
Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia have decided to join the Empire of Vietnam. Laos and Cambodia, with the help of Vietnamese "liberators", overthrew the Communist governments of those two countries, and Thailand joined by a national plebiscite. However, Thailand has much autonomy and has kept most of its government. (Even with four countries, we're tiny compared to our gigantic neighbor to the north, BTW)
