Here we go again.
These are the rules, made by the World 1999 god, Aman: 
quote:
1) You can take 1 large country (eg China, Russia, Brazil etc) or 2 medium countries (eg Britain, France, Iraq etc) or 4 small countries (eg Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal etc) though this may be decided on a case-by-case basis.
2) Time: 1 day(real time) = 2 weeks(story time)
3) Battles are to be resolved either by consensus between the players after both sides have had a chance to respond.
4) Technology is as it is today (this is taking place NOW in 2000, ex-nay the titles )
All story threaders are encouraged to join this story and to post as frequently as they can to make it fun.

I claim France and the Lowlands as the French Republic.

Elections are over. Jauques Chirac had lost his place as President. There is a new President, President Jean-Paul Luc. He will make France greater than ever before. With the recent annexation of the Lowlands, French is being introduced into Holland. Soon all of the French Republic shall be Francophone (French Speaking). President Jean-Paul Luc made a speech:

I take Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia
The presidents Aleksander Kwasniewski (Pol), Leonid Kuczma (Ukr), and Rudolf Schuster (Slo) had met in Warsaw and signed the document which creates the Slav Confederation.
The head of Slav Confederate will be president which will be elected for 4 years by the nations of Ukraine, Slovakia, and Poland. There would not be the Confederate Parliament, but the seperate parliaments which will be approve the decisions of President and his gov. President will have the power to change the decisions of national goverments declare war, and will be the head of army. Slav Confederate has Joined Headquaters of 3 armies and will coordinate the moves of Slav Armies.
The elections will be made on 25 May of 1999

The voters of the United Baltic States elected Lithuanian nationalist and former Portland Trialblazers basketball player Arvydas Sabonis as Prime Minister, over the other two candidates, one a former Soviet general and the other the former president of Estonia.
Sabonis, in his first action as leader of the UBS, has announced that he hopes the UBS, the Slav Confederation, and the Federal Republic of Greater Germany can form an alliance to create an Allied Central-Eastern European Bloc.
OOC: Does anyone know of some websites with information about Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Belarus, especially their militaries?

I dont know what is the time - 1st January 2000?
The first President of Slav Confederate was elected. Nobody recived the over 50% of votes in first turn, so to the second turn qualified two best candidates Wiktor Juszczenko (Ukrainian Prime Minister), and Luk Castle indepedient canidate from Poland.
Juszczenko is the monetarist and he has the opinion of liberal. He wants the liberal economy, and disciplined budget.
Luk Castle is the indepedient candidate from Poland. He has a large amount of cash and he entered to politics after the Warsaw Meeting where 3 presidents signed the act which created the Slav Confederate. He is very popular and he has the right-winged ideology, he is conservative, but he has the liberal opinion to the economy. He want strenghten army, and economy of the SC.
The results of election:
54% - Luk Castle
46% - Vladimir Juszczenko.
Juszczenko congratulated Luk Castle and said that he will be supporting Luk Castle on the international arena. Luk Castle proposed to V. Juszczenko the Minister of Finance position in the new SC Goverment and the position of vice-president. Juszczenko agreed. And three nations celebrates the peacfully cooperation between them.
President Luk Castle said that he supports the proposition of Baltic Prime Minister Sabonis and invited him to the meeting in Warsaw to disscus the details of this proposed alliance. He sent the congratulations note to Sabonis and said that he is sure the Sabonis will be very good Prime Minister and he will keep this region in stable situation.

Bundestag Passes Army-Navy Bill
Given the aggressive and belligerent stance of France, the first vote of the new Bundestag was a new military bill. The military bill was passed with overwhelming support from the DIDP, CSU, and CDU. Many of the exact details of the bill are classified, but a few details have been revealed. Major points include:
[*]The period of mandatory conscription has been extended from ten to thirty months. All citizens will be required to do thirty months of government service, whether as a soldier, a civil servant, or as something else.
[*]The military budget has been more than tripled with Bundestag approval. Most of the funding will come from the annual budget surplus and increasing tax revenues from economic prosperity.
[*]The naval building and buying program is rumored to include aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines.
[*]Many economists expect unemployment to decrease as a result of the military programs.
