I know that may seem a bit extreme, but the thread has just plain gone to hell. Maybe we don't have to do a complete restart, but how about setting the clock back to before the little Slav war? It's unfair to keep Luk's moves in because everyone would have a piece of Ukraine and Poland, a move which otherwise wouldn't be attempted against NPCs this early. We should really stop posting in that thread as no one is listening to Luk and everyone is destroying him, which isn't fair to a newbie who could claim that land, which is actually pretty good, Luk just sent it to hell in a handbasket.

You can have Britain, but I think Australia may be a bit much. I mean, it's not like it's really powerful, but Oceania would be prime land for another player.
I'd claim China, but if I'm mod, I'll leave it open.

I pick the Baltic States, (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia), Belarus, Poland, and Germany, plus either former Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Austria or the Ukraine. (Giancarlo shouldn't be able to take all of Russia and the Ukraine!)

whoa, Russia AND the Ukraine? That's a bit much. The three countries which are considered major powers and shouldn't be taken with any others are: America, Russia, China. I mean, you could reasonable take China and Mongolia as no one would take it, but China by herself is powerful enough.
Dan, that's pretty big too, you just claimed virtually all of central Europe.

But in the spirit of The World 1999 originally, you were allowed to claim two medium countries or one medium country and sattelites (ie: Germany, Denmark, Austria) but Germany, Ukraine, and Poland? c'mon, that's pretty big and would probably be too powerful. I mean, you get western weapons and a great economy from Germany, and eastern bloc weapons and a great fleet from Ukraine.
Oh, and it'd be nice if people came up with stories about how these countries united.

First off, let's leave Switzerland completely NPC, since that's where most people make their transactions, and a player controlling those banks would really screw people.
Germany-OK (I'm assuming this is the main country)
Italy-Italy has a potential to be a great nation by itself, it's not a small satellite
Austria-OK
Switzerland-look above.
Croatia-I guess it's OK, but I don't know why you'd want it
Slovenia-same as above.
Hungary-Let's leave that alone.
If Germany's the main country you want, how about what Scott always does:

Denmark
Austria
Not huge, but all first world. I mean, if you take a country like Slovenia and/or Croatia, you're really putting a burden on your economy as you have to take care of them.
