That's a good idea. We could have the starting grid look like this:
code:
....
....
....
....
....
....
.....
.......
........
........
........
----------------........---------------- - Start/Finish line
oooooooo
........
........
........
......
Naturally, the center lanes are still the choicest ones, but this set-up makes sense, epsecially taking into consideration that a collision does not take you out of the race altogether: just means you will be far back...

Also, I was looking at the track and something I thought needs mentioning in addition to the rules above is the way a win is scored:
To finish the race, you need to pass the start/finish line. or finish the turn on it. If several drivers finish the race on the same turn, then the person that gets farthest ahead from the line wins. The next person gets the second place, etc. If two people end up on the same line, then whoever was closer to the finish line on the previous turn wins. If the two cars were on the same line during the previous turn as well, then they are tied for the same place.

Yup, I agree with Skanky about the cars: lety's try 'em all the same for the first time and see how it goes. If there is need to kick it up a notch later, we'll do so. I don't want to overcomplicate things right away, so that we don't go the route of Nuclear War (with untested rules adding new and unexpected results, like the governments and propaganda) untill we test out the basics.
However, regarding the start positions.... If everyone agrees with the post-count ranking then alright, but it seems... odd, to me. But okay, for this first race, whatever, we can go with that.

So, how long do you figure we should wait for missing orders? I suppose if there is no response from a driver, then the orders remain: straight, and no acceleration. Now, though, how long should we wait between each turn?
