I call that agnostic. I do think that atheism has all the trappings of a religion. Protestant at that.

Yep, but the word "agnostique" is barely used in France, and as such, the word "athée" is better tranlated in English as "agnostic" than as "atheist".

We have quite a few people strongly opposed to the power of the Church ("anticléricaux"), but there are less people who actively deny religion, and basically believe in the inexistence of God. Anyway, these guys have much less visibility than in the US.

That does not prove anything at all Charles, Benazir Buttho being a political leader has an interest in wearing the veil. It is certainly a good plan to bet on tradition when you are following a political carreer in Pakistan.

I would be interested in knowing the definition of "religion" and "atheism" in an english and an american reference dictionnary... any volunteer.

I meet her when I was doing some work for the local Mc Gornver camp in 1972 and she was wearing the traditson Hijab dress and headscarf and someone call after her useing her name Benazir. She must have being around 18 to 20 year old at that time. She is kind of short in height.

You have your modrate religion like most Cath, Lutheran,
most Merth who donot want any religion to domanlate the local, state, federal government. They support the hight court desison on no prayer in school or teaching of religion in school unless all the world religions have the same right to do so and you must allow then do so. In the beginning some of then didnot like court ruleing untril they realisz it protect they childern who attend public school from being forcely convert to than other religion by than treacher, principal or any other school officate. Then you have your Christian Fundie who donot
like the court ruleing at all, they want the public school to be use to forcely convert student of other religion. Student are allow to wear religish items.

The worst one are the atheism as they want than Godless state something our founding father didnot want. They take every opp to try to destory religious belief by ant mean.

Than Christian fundie ministry got in touble with than local Shief and DA for handing out leaflet urgering Fundie male teenager to rape local muslim woman. First this sick is he trying to start than religious war in the local comminuntry. If any muslim woman was rape by than fundie teenager the church can be held criminal and civil liable for it and the ministry would have being arrest for rape also under the consureity law for urgering that criminal act.

There is no system of tenants, no devotion, no conscientiousness, and no faith in Atheism... hence it is not a religion.

Most Arab states are multi cultural and tolerant, they just donot like western with they attitude telling than what to do. When Ike was president the King of Saudi Arabia has than America Citz whip 50 times for manufactoring in Saudi Arabia alcohol for himself to drink. He was warming afew time by the Saudi government to not do so, he was warm by the America goverment to not do so as it is against Saudi Law which carry the death sentence. When he went to America government to complaint about how he was treated, he got no symathic from our Independence government back them not the Israel control vassal state we became. So you believe that Saudi Arabia was intolerant
for enforcement they laws. Now our Israel control puppet government would act entire different today we would be telling Saudi Arabia to not enforce they intolerant laws.

I did not mean that being a tolerant state means doing what the U.S. tells you too. I meant that most religous states are intolerant of differing religions. Just as most religous people are intolerant of other peoples religion. This is strictly my opinion and it comes from looking at the news. Clan rallies, antigay rallies, Catholic/Protest Ireland, Concentration camps for Jews, Japanese, Africans anyone that comes from a different culture. France in its present condition is intolerant. I apologize to any person who thinks that I am in support of Imperialism, Colonialism, or any projection of external power on foreign soil for anything other than actual self defense, which the war in Iraq is not. I believe that I agree or believe you on everything you said. I also firmly believe that every country should be responsible fro their own laws and not have to be told by the U.S. what their policies should be. I do believe that there should be some method for countries being accountable for human rights violations, political oppression, and etc. Maybe the U.N. or something. In present form the U.N. does not work for several reasons.

Interesting article.

I wonder why the Iranians weren't chanting "death to Singapore" last year when head scarves were banned from schools.

Do we have a discriminatory response to discrimination here?

The local Shief is than Christian Fundie but he doesnot like the idear of religious conflict in his area. Muslim woman arenot the only one who wear headscarf, alot of hindic woman wear headscarf, there is few jewish sect where woman wear headscarf, some middleeastern christian church woman wear headscarf. The reason this was found out some parent ask what they son was doing and some told they parent and they parent read the leaflet and called the local shielf who called the DA an they got than emergry court order against the minister against hand out any more leaflet of this type.
This type of court order is legal as there is no free speech protection on urginry people to do criminal acts.
The elders of that church remove the minister from his post. Middleeastern woman who come to america are under the protection of the Roman Cath, Greek Oth, and some mainline Prot church thought agreement with they churches in the middleeast. They attend church service but allow to wear the headscarf an other custum of they church. Plus it woman who wear headscarf where rape what would stop other religious group from rapeing Christian fundie woman too. This happen like after 9-11 an it was nipped in the bud.
