Hannibal's War Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

....and before them lay at last the valley of the Po river. But instead of relief, Anaximander, a ten year veteran of the Iberian wars, was engulfed by a sense of despair...
Were all those hardships he had to endure really worth it?
Celtic ambuses, violent winters and avalances in the treacherous Alps, Iberian tribesmen and exhausting night marches... Of the original seventy thousand men
that formed the invasion force just a mere twenty five thousand had survived. And they still hadn't met the enemy. What were these rag-tag remnants that styled themselves as "army" supposed to do?

The province they had set out to conquer was huge and extremely rich; Its army so vast that even Alexander would have had second thoughts; And the enemy's spirit so defiant that a Gaulic chief would shrowd in awe.

Rome.

That was their objective. He could already see the enemy banners in the distance as the legions were forming in Placentia. Alas, there was no turning back now.....
He suddenly burst into laughter.
A laughter that sprung not from a happy heart, but from one which was almost beside itself with its misfortunes.

The time to weep, as he remembered Hannibal saying, was when our arms were taken fom us, our ships were burnt and we were forbidden foreign wars...

Don't neglect to download the sounds.

The scenario alos includes a full civilopaedia:Units, terrain, buldings, advances everything is described in full detail. When unsure what each advance does just read the civilopaedia. It took us months to write that bugger.

Be sure to read the Hannibal readme doc before you play.

Just to clear something out at the begining you have the option of either engaging Scipio(the elder) at Marselies or FOLLOWING THE RIVER UPSTREAM and bypassing him via the Alps.

As i will be leaving today for a rather long period of time, Fairline will be in charge of this thread.

I hope you have a good time playing it as we had creating it.

To be played only as the Carthaginians. And on Deity level.

P.SDon't worry about exchanging "unique" techs with the Macedonians or Celts;its perfectly allright. At most they will start building wonders reserved for you.No big deal really.

Known"bugs": the random Invasion events might trigger before 217BC(they are based on a denominator).
That means that due to an AI glitch the appearing Roman troops will just fortify themselves instead of attacking. Ether load the last autosave or keep playing as normal.

Just to clarify something:

Fairline was a full co-designer in this one. His contribution constitutes an irreplacable part in this scenario.

As for playing as the Romans, i was thinking of making a multiplayer version. I mean, i personally think it would make an ideal 1 vs 1 game. Even the Roman allies and Macedonian civs could be made playable.

Well, by now it looks good. Things that I like of this scen (in no particular oder)

1) The Graphics
2) The amount of unit: it's very good! Not too much unit, not too few...
3) The wounded ships at the start of the scen in the African cities of the Chartago's Empire (good detial)
4) The events.

However, I've played only a few turns. I hope I'll play more the next week (this is a week where the computer is going to be shared a lot)

Thanks Dave

The @GOLDENAGE choice occurs after the battle of Cannae and is a choice as to whether to slaughter just Roman prisoners or Romans and their Latin allies. As for the consequences of this choice - it makes no odds either way. The Cannae event is there to give the Romans the Fabian strategy.

Palaiologos was the event and tech tree maestro, so hopefully I haven't got this wrong I was the graphics and unit info monkey, with a bit of text and historical info help thrown in. I'm very much the junior partner in this one.
