Trip, myself, E_T, and Togas have looked at the situation and determined that we can do the following:
* We HOLD Boston rather than immediately abandon it.
* We do this to encourage GWT to attack the city rather than having to go around it.
* The purpose of getting GWT to attack is that they will suffer a WW hit during the tail end of their GA for at least 5 turns. By Trip's calculations, if we could get lucky enough to bump up their lux slider by 10%, it could well mean over 100 GPT in lost income for them during their GA (personally, I think that figure is a bit high, but whatever). It is worth noting that WW from multiple wars is apparently cummulative, so even once we make peace with them (in a few turns), they will still have the WW from the CGN war.
* We give our entire treasury to CFC (accepted). On CFC's turn right after us, they gift it right back (accepted). GWT goes and takes the city.... they get ZERO gold from razing the city because Apolyton has no money (CFC's gift doesn't go through until we accept). We accept the gift of our gold back from CFC on our turn, which takes place BEFORE unit and improvement support (this was done by Roleplay Team during the PTWDG and no unit or improvement loss resulted... thank god we all played that game as a learning experience).
* Best of all... we're probably going to kill GCA's galley in the next 1-3 turns... we then tell GWT that we will not end the war with them unless the Apolyton-GCA war ends as well (fair trade). Both peace treaties can be signed on the same turn.
One issue we've already looked at is rushing a warrior in Boston for 36 gold and using him to block GWT's ground army from progressing forward quickly until they just get frustrated with us and bowl over our little warrior, giving them the war weariness we want to cause them and giving us a bargaining chip for dealing with GWT+Lucky. Problem is, they're far more likely to just attack the stupid city and raze it in the process, meaning that if we sink 36 gold into it to rush a warrior, that's 36 gold down a drainpipe.
Comment to improve or alter this plan is welcome. We are planning to consult with CFC on their part of it before playing the turn, of course... the plan would call for quite a bit of trust to be placed in CFC that they would actually RETURN our treasury (accepted) after we give it to them.
We especially need to know if any assumptions being made about WW are correct and what impact this has on the advisability of this policy.
----------------------------------------------------------
Now... we need to come up with an appropriate name for city currently called Boston. Something that encourages GWT to attack it and perhaps a little fun, too.
We also need to come up with a name for Al-Amarna, which CGN also gifted us and which we'd also like GWT to raze (though we can abandon it ourselves on our turn if GWT fails to do so themselves, of course).
Suggestions made so far:
Santiago (city that RP Team gifted to GS and that ND attacked on the opening turn of the Great Bobian War in the PTWDG)
Pamplona (RP's capital that while ND got to bloody itself on its walls, they never actually took... GoW took the city)
Invictus (Lux Invicta's capital city that Trip raized himself before ND ever got the chance to conquer it themselves)
Zaragosa (The site of RP Team's first stand against ND where ND moved next to the city, were attacked by RP forces inside, and then ND stormed and took the city)

At Arne's request.
First, GWT will suffer almost zero ww to take those 2 cities from us. They will not suffer a point the turn they declare war (+1 for troops in enemy territory is only if they are there at the start of your turn). If they send a slow mover for El-Amarna they will gain +1 ww point for the turn they take the city.
As for the happy bonus that we would earn, why are people saying it lasts 5 turns only? As far as I can see, it lasts forever, or until +s to ww take us beyond the ww range where we get the bonus. I have observed wars where the agressor sat in defender territory with large stacks, and even attacked with little or no effect, and the defender kept the bonus through the entire war until peace was made again.
If you wish to delay the turn, I could test this further to confirm, but I am fairly sure I have it right: we will have happy bonus until we lose enough cities/units or occupy enemy territory for a prolonged period of time.
Last word, what I have not tested for is having troops in neutral territory. I've wondered for a while if that would effect WW, but have not tested it yet.

To me it doesn't sound like they payoff is worth the trouble. Just disband it and get peace with GCA in a few turns and go from there.

That's our benefit, from what I can see. Even if we immediately end up re-establishing peace with GWT (all too likely given Mongoose201's rules), the WW positive benefit will be felt by Apolyton in perpetuity, helping to counter-act any negative WW we may experience in the future with GCA or GWT.
