Well my point was not to necessarily up the hitpoints, but allow some flexibility. However in this case 150 and 200 looks about right, but for instance with a Skanky/Theben final 200 would be inappropriate IMO.

As long as both players have at least enough HP that the opponenet can't win the final in one round, its enough IMHO. 100HP is not enough, especially with a Hackmaster+20

The way I see it 100 should probably remain the standard if either player disagrees with a change for their match. With 2 10/10 players it's about right IMO.

But for 2 defensive players the option should be there for it to be less I think, and 2 attacking players for it to be more. With one attacking player maybe a little more.

So I wasn't meaning a general increase in hitpoints. I think the 100 worked ok last time up until the final where it was a little slow.

Well, how about at the GM's discretion playing with 80HP when both players are defensive (i.e. defense more than attack) and with 150HP if both players are agressive?

With Drogue to decide what he thinks is the right balance between speed and fairness?

Well as I keep saying I think specifying anything in stone is wrong. If both players and the GM agree then it can be changed for the match to whatever is agreed, that was my initial point.

Probably 200 for the final is too high unless it's me versus Spaced.

150 is a touch high for Spaced/Skanky IMO. 150 is I think about right for my match versus Theben. I'd agree to anything in that ballpark.

Probably should just keep it at 100 then. Feels kind of strange trying to adjust it for types of players.

Also, it is easier to put together a really good story for a few good rounds, versus trying to get a story going for 15 rounds.

Ok, it was just a thought. We can see how it goes, and maybe the finals will be less bloodthirsty. Personally I'd like to see 5-10 rounds played, and I can't see a hypothetical match between myself and Spaced lasting that long.

I'm thinking it may take too long, having them that high, thinking back to last time.

I like Doc's idea, but I agree with Spaced that changing depending on the styles might be a little strange. I would like the final to be a little more than 100, but I'm thinking 200 might be too much. Therefore, let's have a quick vote of the semi finalists. One vote each for each semi finalist, and for me.

Options:
1: 100 semi, 120 final
2: 120 semi, 150 final
3: 150 semi, 200 final

Just post your vote. I'm undecided, but thinking probably the middle option.

Having said that, Theben and Doc have both said 150 is ok to them, and Spaced has said that 150 is fine for him. I'm happy if both players wish they can decide themselves, but if they don't agree, then it will be defaulted to whatever we vote for above.

As I have said repeatedly it's not about the length of the matches per se, but about certain matchups. So any attempt to standardise it thus defeats the point I've been making for the last 10 posts. 150 might be suitable for one final, but not another.

As regards my match I'd prefer 120 to 100.

I agree, which is why if both players agree, then it can be changed. However, as a default, if both players don't agree, I'd like people's ideas. I can do a default 100 if they don't agree to anything different, but maybe a default 150 for the final would be better, or even 200, if the players don't agree to change it?

Isn't the point of the semis to get your opponent under 50 hp's? If you have only 120, that gives you 70 to work with. The semis could be over in a round!

Spaced and myself agree on option 2. Doc seems to want between 100 and 120 for his match, so I would suggest that both semis are run with 120 HP, and the final with 150, unless both players agree differently for that match.

I have another idea. This could be stupid, but the final could be fought with whatever HP you have left from your semi, plus 100. Thus not getting hurt too much in this could be beneficial. However I think that'd lead to too much defensive playing. It won't be used this time, but as an idea for future rules?

Still no orders? It's been almost 48 hours now However obviously I'm not going to put in stats for everyone. I think I'll leave it until I have everyone's in, unless it's a silly amount of time, like a week. Fights to the death should be decided properly, IMHO
